Beginning Targaryen

By MarthWMaster, in 4. AGoT Deck Construction

I've recently picked up and begun reading A Game of Thrones, in anticipation of the HBO series, and am now inevitably curious about the AGoT LCG. I find the plight of the Targaryen siblings especially compelling, and would like to build a somewhat competent deck with them. Which product(s) would you recommend for a straightforward beginning deck out of House Targaryen for me to experiment with?

Thanks in advance!

Just buy the Core Set, it has cards for Stark, Lannister, Baratheon and Targaryen. As for expansion packs, the only one I know of that features predominately Targaryen cards is A Flight of Dragons but I'm fairly sure that is CCG not LCG(which is what you want as CCG cards aren't considered 'legal' anymore). Might want Ancient Enemies, which has Dragon Thief and Fury of the Dragon(key Targ cards regardless of the build) and Of Snakes and Sand has Jhogo and his whip, and he's a generally good character. Targ decks are difficult though, unlike other houses, they are yet to receive a devoted pack, though I think I heard about an upcoming one.

Core Set is needed to get started regardless which house you're interested in. Many people will recommend buying it twice to give yourself a larger card pool with many relevant cards. Then in about probably two months there will be a Targaryen box expansion, which you'll likely want to pick up. It'll include two deck lists for putting together decks with cards exclusively from the expansion and the Core set. Aside from that, take a look over at cardgamedb.com for great articles on different chapter packs (not all expansion cycles have articles yet, but it's a place to start).

Thank you! I'll likely get two Core Sets, and also see about that upcoming expansion.
