scenario:
my opponent defends with a unit with 1HP..
questions:
1) does the defending unit deal damage to my attacking unit?
2) do i still have to design 1 damage to that defending unit before i can deal damage to his capital?
need some clarifications on this ruling sir.. ty

No to both, defending unit dies before it contributes damage in the assign step and since it is no longer around, you no longer need to assign damage to it.
