critical ratings for creatures

By New Zombie, in WFRP Rules Questions

hi there,

i'm having a mind blank. weapons list a critical rating. creatures don't have them explicitly listed (do they?)

is there a standard number of boons that are used by creatures to inflict criticals on player characters?

default critical ratings are factored into the actions that NPCs have, so they don't generally get to obtain a critical by rolling 'x' boons.

If however, you choose to give the NPCs specific weaponry, you are free to use the CR of that weapon for the NPC. This is clarified in the FAQ

What remains unclear is what happens when you do use a specific weapon:

Do you still get to use the special action cards of the creatures?

Can you only use PC-compatible action cards?

Most creature action cards indicate if it's a natural weapon being used, or melee weapon, and when it's melee weapon, you can use the card for any weapon.

Like greenskin action cards, all (allmost) indicate clearly it's being used in combination with a weapon.

But some beastmen actions indicate (from the results), that it's horns that are being used.

Besides, unless you have the dragon wield a two-handed sword, using it in combination with Fiery Breath, I can't see players complaining...

thanks for the advice, chaps.
