Old CCG Player, looking into LCG.

By rockman2, in CoC General Discussion

I'm looking into purchasing the Call of Cthulhu LCG Core Set, and getting back into this game after a long hiatus. Here's my problem however. A large number of Asylum Packs have been released since the LCG's inception a 2 or 3 years ago, and many if not all are out of stock and hard to find. As a new player, is there any remedy to missing out on this many cards?

Thanks in advance!

Go to any of the online resources listing cards by pack, then start hunting down cards which exactly mirror old CCG cards :)

I bought a couple of premium starter packs from the CCG recently, and got a few extra copies of some nice cards I only had singles of. A few of the CCG cards seem a bit overpowered, but a lot carried over to the LCG unchanged. I'm playing casually with friends so this works for me.

The out of print cards have slowly started being reprinted. The first AP in the first 6-box cycle was the one I missed (got everything else cheap :) , and CCG Armory had it in stick. It was confirmed on the way a couple of days ago, so you can start pre-ordering lovely 60-card packs with aquatic fun right now.

The two standalone packs are also scheduled for release, so be patient. Only one of them had significant Ancient Ones, I think, so you can manage with just the 6-pack cycles until they are printed. With recent disasters shipping may be delayed again, so fill up with compatible CCG cards as much as you can.

The LCG has nicely distributed cards. With the core set, Secrets of Arkham and any full cycle of 6 you'll get a relatively even distribution of cards from each faction. The second expansion and the latest cycle adds the 8th faction in numbers, but each faction still gets new cards. You can manage the lack of some of the older packs just fine because of that :)

I picked up my first core set in january and managed to get my hands on 95% of the released cards without any problems.

And with the upcoming reprints it's a good time for starting out fresh.

Concidering that we are seeing old AP's being reprinted, it stands to reason we'll eventually see all of them. And in the budget friendly format where 1 pack has a complete playset.

I am new to CoC LCG and after buying the core set from my local store, I managed to get Secrets of Arkham and Order of the Silver Twilight from the same store the following day. I did a lot of reading in this forum to guide me to my next step, and quite a few have said to immediately get the two deluxe mini-core sets.

I then hunted down the APs and I managed to get the complete Dreamworld Cycle AP, and the complete The Yuggoth Contract cycle AP. Now I am working towards completing the Summons of the Deep cycle. I am only missing two from this cycle.. The Antediluvian Dreams (not sure if this is already out) and The Terror of the Tides (not sure if this is out already). The "Thing from the Shore" was a bit of a challenge to hunt down but my local store was lucky enough to find one.

I removed the two banned cards Magah (Journey Unknown Kadath) and Endless Interrogation (The Thing from the Shore)from our decks for safekeeping. I have a feeling these will be a sought after card even if banned. preocupado.gif

I asked my local store if they could find Ancient Horrors for me and the guy at the register gave me that "You gotta be kidding me." look. He said it's next to impossible finding Ancient Horrors. Oh well...

Just sharing with you what I began acquiring as a new player to CoC LCG.

Yeah, it looks like I bought the last Ancient Horrors and Mountains of Madness packs in Europe (sold out when they shipped to me at the last place I found any). They are scheduled for reprint in larger quantities, so I'm tempted to get another of each then. Can't hurt to have more deck-building options, since I have more decks than factions :)

Starting to look like I need a second core set, though :(

I have to agree with whats been said so far. Your getting back into the game at a great time because FFG decided to reprint the older sets/Asylum Packs with 3 of each card to a pack.
