We have an established game going and have had some attrition in our ranks. If you would like to join us read below for information about the Campaign So Far and available ship roles and Character Creation.

Character Creation

You must have access to the Core RT Rule Book to play. I will not provide information from the book to anyone that hasn't acquired one. We have to support the hobby after all. If you want to use Into the Storm stuff for your character its best to get a copy of that too.

You may make one character and furnish them to the GM for approval at [email protected]

Rolling Characteristics must be done like so:

Option 1: You may take a 40 base in all characteristics in exchange for only starting with 1 Fate point. Origin path and career can raise or lower the 40's during character creation.

Option 2: You must go to the following site, http://www.pbegames.com/roller/, and do the following to roll for characteristics and fate points:

About half way down the page you will find a number of fields.

  • First, enter your e-mail address in the first field.
  • Check or Uncheck "Reply to your address", your choice there.
  • Then enter [email protected] in the next blank field.
  • In "Summary of Rolls" type in 'Character Creation YOURNAME RANK 1 or 2'
  • This tells me its for character creation, what your name is and whether it is your rank 1 or rank 2 character.
  • For "Show Results" click the 'BOTH' radio button.
  • We're only going to fill out the 'Roll One' and 'Roll Two' field sets.
  • For 'Roll One' type in Number of Rolls: 9, Dice Type: 2d10, Rolls per line: 9 and Comment: Characteristics
  • For 'Roll Two' type in Number of Rolls: 1, Dice Type: d10, Rolls per line: 1 and Comment: Fate
  • Go down to the bottom of the page and click on SUBMIT
  • Scroll down again after it refreshes and you should have a set of 2d10 rolls and a single roll for Fate points.
  • Thats it. Now read below and create your character.

Wounds, Insanity, Corruption and any other rolls not mentioned here for character creation are rolled by the GM and kept secret from other players but shared with the player in quesiton.

Use the rolls to create your character.


Your main character must be Rank 2 at 7,000 XP. This means you make a Rank 1 character (spend the 500xp you get to spend there). Than spend another 2,000 XP on the Rank 1 Skills and Talents as well as Characteristic Advances.

NOTES on creating a character:

Elite Advances require permission.

You may use any Origin, Career, Skill (assuming your career allows it) and Talent (assuming your career allows it) from the Rogue Trader Core book. You may use any Origin, Career, Skill (assuming your career allows it) and Talent (assuming your career allows it) from Into the Storm that does NOT pertain to xenos.

The grossly mutated, heretic(chaos filth)/heretek and xenos (especially eldar, kroot, ork) characters are not allowed at this time. You will have the opportunity to make secondary characters later that can start out at Rank 1.

Characters with multiple mutations are subject to rejection without prejudice by the GM.

Your character starts with Career 'starter' equipment as written in the Core RT book.

More equipment will be made available through a process called ' The Equipment Ladder ' which will allow the starting players to gather to themselves a few choice items and the esoteric stuff they think they'll need for their career. Once the character is approved the GM will explain the 'Ladder' to the new player and the new player may make their choices of starting equipment. After the 'Ladder' normal acquisition rolls through the Lord Captain and the Dynastic Profit Factor will apply.

If your character acquires Ship Points or Profit Factor points be sure to note them so that the points may be added to the group total.

There are any number of fillable character sheets on the web. Fill one out and e-mail it to me at [email protected] along with at least a single paragraph (more is better if it makes sense and is coherent) of background story for your character as well as 'desired role' aboard ship/in the Lord Captain's Retinue.

If you want to play a role not mentioned, such as a Genetor AdMech character, please get approval first and we'll see what Ship's Roles are available to you. You do not have to fulfill a ship role but the extra Test bonuses for the Role are unavailable if the Role isn't filled.

Once the character sheet and background are received the gm will evaluate you and indicate whether or not your desired role is offered to you by the Lord Captain.

when I get home to my books, I'll build out a Navigator for the Carto-Artifex position.

By "Any origin" do you mean all choices are "Free Choices"?

Only the Lure of the Void OR Motivation slot can be a Free Choice.

The carto-artifex position has two already applying for it so it is considered filled.

If the Master Helmsman role is still available I can roll up a Void Master. Unless the good captain needs a personal pilot, which would suit me better! Though could probably fulfill both posts I guess.

Interested in taking up the Master of Ordnance PC, or rolling up a new PC (also Arch-Militant) for that same position. Incidentally, what's an Infernus Master? That sounds intriguing as well.

Can you send me info on Deadeye's character?

I submitted a Missionary for the part of Twistcatcher. Best behave if he comes aboard, he's not to keen on giving second chances, instead opting to be certain... by burning xenos, mutants and hereteks.

I'm keeping the abandoned characters warm in one way or another in case their players return. You can roll up another Arch-Militant for the role of Ordnance Master.

The Infernus Master is essentially the 'firefighter' of a fighting vessel. Navy ships that catch on fire are well advised to have a well trained Infernus Master among their crew. At the moment that role is not filled on Silverfish.

Sounds good, I will be sending you a character sheet for a new Arch-Militant today. I will be taking Option 1 (40 on all stats, 1 Fate Point) and applying for the Master of Ordnance; if that is unavailable, then I have some other ideas I will send in the email.
