DotN Mel won me a multiplayer game on turn 2 last week. Well her and the Fanatic I put on her. I think DotN is my favorite but I can see the case for the other 2.
I can see the uses of Core Set Mel, particularly against someone like Beric, but for me it has to be the Brotherhood version every time. As part of an Asshai-heavy Baratheon deck with plenty of nice attachments, Power of Faith, Many Powers Long Asleep and Valar Morghulis/Wildfire Attack. She can build up A LOT of Power on herself, and take out most of the opponents cards. Aside from Jaqen H'gar, my wife (main opponent at AGOT) is convinced she's the most broken card out there.
I've never played with Brotherhood Mel, in yall's experience does she really get to kill that often or is it just the power stealing that makes her worth it and the kill is a bonus?

In my experience, a reasonable amount of killing, and A LOT of people being wary of using their renown characters.
Although it does get really confusing when she's up against Ellaria Sand...
