They do know they can just evade monsters, right? While some characters are abysmal at sneaking and may not have the right weapons to face them, some characters are good at sneaking (particularly Ashcan Pete, who is usually a favorite among new people), or decent with sneaking and have a good focus. Plus, all you need is 1 success to sneak past that Cthonian, instead of 1 horror check success and 3 combat check passes...

Oh yes they were told, and they keep reminding me of the mice that keep biting the electrified cheese.

and monsters should be slowing you down around arkham.

One thing that annoys me about the Arkham board is that it is just a big effing loop. The game is all about tactics, but there are few opportunities for tactical movement. I'd like to see (in my fantasy dreams) an Arkham Board board that's laid out a something like the Pandemic board. There would be lots of ways to get from Point A to Point B, but there'd also be lots of choke points. With one expansion board in play, there's about 50 places to move. That's basically the number of locations that Pandemic has, so it shouldn't be too hard to make a more tactical map.

So, basically, more like Innsmouth and less like Dunwich? The two have extremely different layouts. Though, probably to a bit more of an extreme if you're looking for a pandemic-esque thing...
