I love BSG

but is the game as epic as the TV show?

It can be. We've had some very epic games that came down to the wire.

Then again, sometimes the humans just get smashed straight out of the gate, especially with newer players.

But whatever happens, you're almost assured that the ending of the game will be more enjoyable than the ending of the series. :D

All depends on how much you get into the game. My group have a blast playing it and only three of us (my bro, The Asian, and me) have seen the show. The game offers a lot of tension and fun.

Play it. You will not be disappointed. Our group has literally played hundreds of games, and we still love it. My favorite tv show, and one of my favorite games.

I absolutly despised the show. I watched the whole series and wish I could go in and dig the storage location for those memories out of my brain.

However,....the game is incredible. It is amazing in it's creation of genuine paranoia with every game resembling the dialogue in John Carpenter's, "The Thing." It is team orientated but covertly contentious enough for even most cuthroat competative gamer. The simplicity of the general gameplay is complicated by multiple simultaneus problems needing to be solved and looking for solutions that address as many crisises as possible. All the while never knowing whether that good sounding advice from a RL friend is really just a smokescreen trying to lure you into creating more problems than solving. BSG the game is truly a unique gaming experience and one I personally cannot praise enough. I cannot go so far as saying I think it is the best game ever,...(for my money thats Settlers of Caatan) but it certainly is in the top 2 or 3.

I always tell new players: "You want to gather your best friends, break out BSG and play. Then go find new best friends."

Honestly, I loved the series and I love the board game. Both had some pretty epic episodes and more often than not the game supplies an imaginative group of gamers with alternate episodes/plots/outcomes. There's no other game out there that managed to capture the feel of a TV series or a book as well as BSG. ( A Game of Thrones may be a runner-up though.)

Board game or LCG?
