Big Bad Topic: Gears and Crows...

By ElricOfMelnibone, in Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG

Now now. This is a very hot topic.

How would you rule Wissenshaft Crows?

How would you rule Wissenshaft/Solomon Gears?

I'd like to insert these elements in my campaign and I'd like a few ideas about them!

Right now the only thing I decided on is making a new "Module" for piloting gears, which will be the Gear Module, costing 100DP. Not only it allows to use Gears as weapons, but it also makes so that, while piloting them, your Attack and Defense values are the average between your Attack/Block/Dodge and Science.

That's as far as I've gotten. I still need ideas as you can see. I also hope this topic will be of help for any other GM which would like to include these things in his/her campaign.

The way I did it was, the character had to commit 2 CP for the Contact advantage on pg 288 of the Gaia book. 3 CP would be for a Gear, but I'm not going there at the moment. The way it breaks down is, the 2 CP pays for the Wissenschaft director as a contact, but because the Crow will likely be made to do far more for their director than they will be allowed to ask of them, they may be fitted with (up to) 75dp worth of technology generated using the player-made Artifact rules.

It basically amounts to one CPp worth of Contact and one CP worth of Artifact as a 'package deal' for a Wissenschaft Crow. The rest is governed with story and roleplay.

I sow more than once reference to the Player-Made Artifact Rules...

Could you suggest me a link where I can find such tool? I'd be very obliged.

By the way, thanks for the answer.

Certainly. I've posted them here before - link to the artifact guide

Thanks a lot for the stuff...I'll give it a through reading as soon as I have time and probably modify it to "fit" my objectives.

I'm not sure I'll work Wissenshaft Crows as people with "Artifacts" though. It may work well for guys with Solomon tools, but not so much for guys with special powers such as those subject to the Process...

As for Gears, I'm still in doubt about how to handle them...

I'd look to the "Creation of Beings" chapter for both Crows and Gears. A Crow is just an augmented human - so the easiest thing to do is take an NPC and give him Inhumanity and whatever stat boosts you feel are appropriate. As for Gears the best thing seems to be just build them as if they were a big construct/golem style monster just with a person inside.

Yes I know that only covers NPC's but I honestly cant think of how to give a PC access to Gears without breaking the game.

It would be very challenging to play a Gear character, because there would be so much investment into them by the organization, how could the possibly be in control of their own destiny? The only scenario would be renegade, and that would not last long. At all.

For now I was just wandering for NPCs actually. As for PC, well I guess characters might be part of an organization as a piece of plot. My players aren't right now. Actually they ARE target of three big bad organizations at the moment, since three out of four bought the Powerful Enemy disadvantage: Black Sun, Inquisition, and Order of Yehudah!

Somehow, they're managing to survive, by the way...

Sad thing is they were hired to escort a NPC who is affected by a Serious Illness in order to find a cure...actually it seems HE's the one escorting them, since he's the only party tank! That's kinda ridiculous, but everyone is having his share of fun and since they're pretty smart, they're handling pretty well...
