A FAQ, and with such important mistakes corrections and rule changes, just one week after game publication is not something to rejoyce about in my opinion.

Some more care should have been taken in providing clearer rules and tested game mechanics.

Welcomed it is, nonetheless. Expect more coming.

I spotted someone's post to a question I had "why does trading happen during keepers turn". It's because Mansions doesn't use Arhkam Horror's "first player" mechanic and so letting each investigator perform this step would open it up to abuse. Mansions places the step on a single keeper to apply the action once for all investigators. Hope this helps others!

It would be exactly the same, but not sound stupid. I hate it when I explain a rule to players and it doesn't make any sense. They asked "why?" and I said "because it says."

While annoying, I don't mind the mistakes so long as FFG sends out the corrected cards to purchasers of THIS edition. I don't want to have to buy an expansion to get what I already paid for. A corrected rule book would be nice too, but I'm not unduly upset referring to errata and FAQ if they send out the replacement cards. I have had excellent customer service from FFG in obtaining replacement parts (even broken minis when the fault was mine...thanks Thadd!) and hope they step up here as well. Speaking of which, has there been any official word from FFG on this matter?

I am awaiting a responce from FFG as I mailed them last week over this...very upset that I have to scribble on my game contents which I am NOT doing.

Hopefully replacements will be produced but I have to agree as for the tems of playtesting...I work in a console department where testing is a key feature in games...sometimes taking months...

Far too many incorrect errata issues regarding this release...very upsetting.

What bugs me is the amount of (partial) erratas being released. I'm an RPG and tabletop player, so I'm used to having an errata for *everything*, but the speed is... astonishing.

First up is the note in the box - awesome, that's how you errata missprints. The best possible way, imho.

Second, only days after release, there's the FAQ concerning some misstakes that weren't covered on the note in the box. Why? Because there was too little effort put into playtesting. No matter how much, it wasn't enough obviously. That's effectively a "Day 1 Patch". Videogames hate those, why start in board games?
That errata, btw, is a pain in the ass to print. A printer friendly version would be appreciated.

Then, thinking that's it, you take a look at the boards and realise that neither the note, nor the online errata address some major problems i.e. with story 5. How can this be? Did they never play it? Or were the testers just burned out, having played Story 1 to 4 a thousand times? I mean, yeah, the FAQ addresses it, but there are tiles rotated the wrong way! Items showing up twice! WTF?

Don't get me wrong. I know testing ANYTHING costs a lot of money, is a pain and boring as hell. But I paid 111$ (80€) on this, which means I had to do a lot of sh*tty work to be able to get the game and I expect the other half of the deal to do the same. First day patches still missing major problems? D'uh.

(Still, it's a great game and I expect FFG to solve the bugs in a meaningful and realistic speed - but please, please, please test some more before releasing. Maybe add more than that small note with erratas, add a full sheet. We can deal with that stuff, but broken maps are annoying.)

In all fairness to the guys at FFG, someone did the math and in scenario 5 there are "96 possible combos(not including the random seeding)." So yes this will be the one people will have the most trouble with/the one where things probably got missed in play testing.

I mean really, that's a lot a variations, the others have 12, 24, 48 and 24 variations so scenario 5 has at least twice as many if not more.

I'm happy with the fact that issues are being addressed quickly, yes it's a shame that they have to be addressed, but for this system (which which it looks simple it pretty complex for a board game). But it is far better than there being issues and then the company ignoring you seeing as they already havve your money.

Though I'm not surprised that the larger stories need some fixing. It would be very easy to overlook a question combination that required the same card to be played in two different rooms (I just have terrible luck that's all). That just means that I have to take a closer look at the set up when I chose to run scenario 5, if I notice anything wrong I can always contact FFG and get the answers, this way not only will they update their errata but I can also give everyone else a heads up that there may be a snag with it.

So really I get to be a play tester and help fix a game that, to be honest, I love and think that there is amazing potential with.

I don't mind the errata and the FAQ...this is a complex game and these things happen. What I do take great issue with is the fact that FFG seems to be officially saying that they want us to draw on our components. They need to send out the corrected 6 cards to make me happy or I will seriously re-think future purchases from them. See Thaadd's response in the thread over on Boardgamegeek.com

I guess that I would rather sharpie on the card then have the card be wrong. This is not a Picasso, it's a game. If they reprint the f'ed cards, then the sharpied one goes away anyway.

I am more concerned with the other issues with set up, etc. Hopefully the rest of you playtesters - er - players will find the rest of the errors before I get to those sections of the game.

I sent an email to FFG Customer Service about the misprinted cards/instructions because I too was a little perturbed about this. Below I included my email with the FFG response which did take about 8 days. I also posted this on BBG. Others received the exact same response. Go figure. And their response sucks by the way. I recently purchased Mansions of Madness. I was very excited about 
this game. Upon opening the box and unpacking all the components, I 
noticed the small errata that came with the game. I was happy that 
this was included and replacement cards were sent for the mistyped 
cards. That was very nice. However, I noticed online that there is 
another errata about misprinted rules and other cards. I''m appalled 
that a game that requires precise setups and certain gameplay 
mechanics has this many errors. Please let the public know that this 
will be fixed. We all hope that first edition buyers can get

lot of customers unhappy about this. You can read the FFG forum and 
on BoardGameGeek. We all love FFG and we all were looking forward to 
MoM. Howeve r, the way this product was either rushed or not 
playtested properly is a big disappointment. You guys make awesome 
games and we want to see them keep coming, but this definitely 
doesn''t look good. The price we pay for board games nowadays 
supersedes video games sometimes. Things like this need to be close 
to 100% as accurate as possible. We all make mistakes, but this is 
what playtesters and quality assurance are for. I''m sure everyone 
will be satisfied if there is some sort of replacement process that 
will correct this. I''m sure I speak for everyone when I say we

Hello Seth,

As with any FFG published product, we will post an errata document to 
correct any errors that had crept into the print run. The current FAQ 
and Errata document for any product will be found on that product's 
Support page. We encourage you to reference that document during play.

If you would like to make the correction on the card itself, and you 
sleeve your game to help protect the components, one possibility is to 
add a slip of paper into the sleeve that displays the corrected text.

Some folks don't like these summaries because they can be very long, ironically, but I've found that if you step away from a game long enough to forget some of the details that these things are indispensable to help fully refresh your memory! If nothing else, it's easier to flip through a few pages of succinct rules than through a booklet.

Per Corey: Axes do not work on door locks, as locks are not considered in the investigator's current room.

I would recommend adding to the frequently overlooked rules section:

a) Investigators can only have a maximum of one injury and one insanity at any given time. If they receive a second, they must discard the first. (p.25)

b) Any monster that moves past investigates, as the monster moves past them - each investigator must make a horror check.

I didnt see this in the errata:

Add to the end of the Keeper Action Card "Uncontrollable Urges" - "This ability can only be used once per investigator per turn. It cannot be used multiple times on the same investigate." (I've seen this mentioned in multiple forums but I didnt see it in the online FAQ yet).

Regarding UU ... it's actually not once per investigator per turn. It is once per action per investigator per turn.

A Keeper can use UU to both move as well as force the investigator to use an object, for example, or to use two different objects. The Keeper cannot, howver, force the investigator to move twice, or to use the same item twice, etc.
