Hi everyone. I was hoping you might be able to help me find a very particular set of rules I saw while flipping through a WFRP book some time back. Now, this was a 2nd edition book I was looking at, but I know a lot of people made the transition from 1st to 2nd to 3rd Edition Warhammer, so i thought I would take a chance.

I seem to recall that in one of the rulebooks I saw an advance scheme for the undead, not a particular undead, just a profile to use to convert a living creatuer or monster from its normal stats to undead stats. The profile listed particular talents and the like, and for the life of me, I have NO IDEA where I saw it printed. I do remember that i wanted to make a note of it so I could use it in future games when my players had to fight an undead horde created by a reoccuring necromancer they have fought in the past. Anyway, I have scoured every book I own looking for that dang section with no luck.

If any of you have seen the advance scheme I am refering to, please let me know.

It is from the 1st edition rules.

They had a lot of templates in the creature section in 1st Ed WFRP for converting standard creatures into things like Vampires, Champions, etc. It's been a loong time since I've looked at the 1st Ed. rules, but I always liked that particular method of generating certain types of creatures.

2nd Ed had a few similar templates, but I don't remember any for undead.

No, this was difinately a 2nd edition template. That's what makes it so aggravating to try to relocate. I remember the ones from 1st edition, and I liked them too. I completely agree that it was a better system for creating "bad guys".

Pretty sure you saw it in Nights Dark Master but I could be wrong here, I do remember the template rules for vampires is def in there and if i remember correctly the undead templates are there as well... if not try Strike to Stun.net forums for answers to earlier editions since the 1-2nd edition peeps all seem to haunt that site since BI closed...

I've actually checked Night's Dark Masters for it, but all I have is the PDF version of the book. That having been said, I have a version of the hardcopy core book before the errata was updated, so maybe I have a copy of NDM that differs from the hard copy. Looks like a bummer for me.

Are you sure it was in an officaial 2ed release as I cant think of one.

Vampire is in NDM's with thrall, count and lord but that is it. I was ninety nine percent sure.. It might be in Lure of the liche lord but again I dont think so will check shortly for you though.

I do def have one from some fan released stuff in second but I really cannot think that one exisited for 2ed I have 1st edition hard copies of them all and generally a very good memory for that sort of thing. Im trying to think thru the adventures but I think its there either... sorry thinkin and typing if its anywhere it will be in lue of a liche lord but again im ninety percent certain its not. I will get back to you.

No not in Lure of the liche lord, I really think you must be remembering a fan made suppliement or 1ed one because such a template I would have found amazingly useful for an official release... Only place I could consider it might be would be in the ToC hidden amongst mutations or gifts but I dont recollect seeing it if so.. If I can find the fan one Im sure ive got somewhere I can post that for you though.

Thanks for all of the input, guys, I do appreciate it. I remember reading this while at a game at our local RPG store while waiting for my group to show up. I remember thinking that I could use the scheme to create some really cool enemies including an undead whale which had the corpses of drowned whalers still trapped in ropes on its hide. I also wanted to create some packs of undead dogs and whatnot. But either way, I remember it being in a hard copy of an official rulebook.

Of course at this point I am really starting to wonder if I am not crazy about it completely.

I would have most def remembered an undead whale... could it have been in warpstone magizine?? Its the only source I dont have for 2ed materials.

Oh hold on... You can do everything you just described using the greater Necromancy rules from NDM..

Maybe thats where you saw it, not a template as such but a guide to creating all things dead... Alot of fun can be had with those rules..
