Bracing a Heavy Weapon.

By charis13, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

Can a character use his servo-arm to brace a heavy stubber?

Not sure about rules, but it depends on the GM for house rules.

My case? I had my tech priest's right leg replaced by a good quality cyber leg (redish gold, sort of orange, made with high quality brass).

I then asked the magos who ran the mechanicum facility if I could have it modified, so as when I kneel down, a mounting piece comes out of the knee.

Then if I wanted to brace my heavy stubber, I just had to kneel down, and fix the gun on my knee (I have enough ST bonus to bear the recoil).

Then I made friends with a crafty bounty hunter (who then ended up leaving the party on bad terms because we killed his scum best friend (after he mutated and attempted to kill us). The bounty hunter saw the thing in my leg, and somehow got hold of a magnetic mounting base for my knee, activated at will, and I permanently attached a mounting stick to my heavy stubber.

So now the GM allows me to brace the heavy stubber as a free action :D

Next session I'll have 6 ST bonus and enough XP to buy the bulging biceps advance from the secutor tree anyway, so it was fun to roleplace bracing my stubber like that while it lasted.

Why is your SB so high if you're wielding a heavy stubber!?

Tech-Priests ... they're all like that - once they see some nifty implant they absolutely have to get it because they "need to rid themselves off the weakness of the flesh" et cetera ... in this case quite literally, I presume. :P

Wacky tech-priests and their bordering on heresy!

Do Tech-Priests not get Bulging Bicepts? And I was sure they had everything....

Yep, implants and an advance.

I started the game with 36 ST. One advance, for 41. Implanted breacher drill on a purpose mounted arm implant for 51. Next session it's the Secutor improved chasis for 61.

I'll pay dearly though, 11 Agility after next session. No advances on that yet, so at least I can get it to 31. At a rather high XP cost, but I'll manage. Meanwhile, I'll move like a paralitic horse.

Ah, the glory of an eviscerator and a breacher drill in close combat. You do NOT want to get close to that.

After reading this post I am not sure if Bulging Bicepts is the answer to my question.

You're right. I was just trying to make a joke.

On the real though: Are you refering to a manipulator mechadendrite? or is there some other Servo-arm entry? If so where are the rules for it located?

The Servo-Arm is what starting Tech-Marines from DW get at start.

I finally found the servo-arm entry in both the Ascension and Deathwatch books!

I'd say sure to the Servo-arm being a means for bracing, but the standard manipulator mechadendrite I'd go with no.
