Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus toys for Deathwatch

By Black_Kestrel, in Deathwatch

Way back in 2005 Tim Huckleberry put together an unofficial Codex: AM. While squarely aimed at the tabletop and IG style armies, it does have two lovely nuggets that could be used in a game of Deathwatch. From Codex: AM I present you the Plamsa Blaster and Mechanicus Staff of Office.

Name: Plasma Blaster
Class: Basic
Range: 100m
RoF: S/2/-
Dam: 1d10+9E
Pen: 8
Clip: 40
Rld: 4 Full
Special: Storm, Volatile
Wt.: 40 kg.
Req: 25
Renown: Famed

The Plasma Blaster is a specially built combi-weapon crafted in the 38th Millennium. It incorporates two plasma guns on a weapon mount suitable for replacing the Storm Bolter on a suit of Terminator Armor.

Name: Mechanicus Staff of Office
Class: Melee
Dam: 2d10+2E
Pen: 8
Special: Concussive, Power Field
Wt.: 10 kg.
Req: 35
Renown: Famed

Only the most senior Tech-Priests are gifted with one of these very powerful and rare tech-relics. Glowing with circuit-runes, the Staff contains nano-sized warp portals which burst open on contact. The impacts on the portals create intense localized warp disruptions, causing micro-explosions which devastate the struck enemy. A Mechanicus Staff of Office require two-hands to wield properly. Only Techmarines are trusted with this weapon among the Astartes. A Mechanicus Staff of Office is a Master-craftsmanship weapon and its stats have been modified to reflect this

The Plasma Blaster actually predates Tim's unofficial list - it was a Wargear Card in 2nd Edition 40k (Codex Ultramarines, 1995), depicting a weapon carried by Brother-Captain Invictus of the Ultramarines First Company, up until his death at the Battle for Macragge.

Thanks for the info, also nice to know another bit of 40K lore.

Thanks, cool to see that codex is still remembered :)

I've liberally stolen lots of stuff from it and my other fan writings for 40k rpg. You should actually be seeing even more in some upcoming books too.

I could have sworn I already included the AM Staff of Office in another book though, Into the Storm perhaps? Or at least something that worked like it did. ALl of my books are packed up now so I can't check - help anyone?

Maybe thinking about the Macro Hammer?

MACRO-HAMMER
These puissant archeotech weapons are
thought to date back to the Dark Ages of
Technology. However, thus far they have
only been discovered on a long-lost citycache
hidden amongst the ruins of the warworld
of Zayth. The Disciples of Thule seized the majority
of the weapons, though a few have found their hands into
other members of the Machine Cult in the Koronus Expanse.
Glowing with circuit-runes, the ancient tech-relic mounts a
suitably large hammer head covered with nano-sized warp
portals which burst open on contact. The impact of the portals
creates intense, localised warp disruptions, causing microexplosions
which devastate the enemy. Like many human
designs, its visage is intended to intimidate and cower all who
would stand before the righteous might of the Imperium and
the Machine God. This weapon requires two hands to use.

Yep, that's it! Thanks here.

The Codex: AM is what got me seriously interested in W40K along with the Tau. Up till then I was a gadfly always looking but never really getting involved in the universe. The announcement of Dark Heresy clinched it for me as the wargame itself wasn't my cup of tea. Converting the Robot rules from Codex: AM is my next project so keep an eye open. What other fan writings do you have for 40K and where can I find them?

I did an Adeptus Arbites list and a massive Genestealer Cults list too. Not sure where they might be online, but me a PM and I can email them over.
