Wild Wolf Pack

By Gargoyle2, in 4. AGoT Deck Construction

I wanted to build a direwolf deck but wanted to make it original, so I decided to add Wolves of the North and some Wildlings. I'm new and this is completely theoretical, so advice and comments are welcome but try not to be too harsh.

House: Stark

Agendas: Blood of the First Men(for casual play), The Last Giants and The Free Folk

Plots:

Respect of the Old Gods

Fury of the Wolf

The Minstrels Muse

Retaliation

The Power of Arms

Blockade

Rule By Decree

Characters:

Wolves of the North x3

The Wildling Horde x1

Jon Snow(ASitD) x3

Osha x3

Mance Raydar(RotO) x2

Mammoth Riders x1

Varamyr Sixskins x3

Direwolf Pup x3

Feral Pack x3

Ghost(TWH) x1

Wolf Pack x3

Robb Stark(LoW) x2

Catelyn Stark(LoW) x1

Hungry Mob x3

Guard at Riverrun x3

The Hound(PotS) x1

Bolton Refugee x3

Events:

Wolf Dreams x3

At Night They Howl x3

Lethal Counterattack x1

Over the Wall x2

Endless Endurance x2

To Be A Wolf x1

Attachments:

3x Shaggydog

1x Grey Wind

1x Ghost

1x Longclaw

Locations:

3x Narrow Sea

1x Frozen Outpost

1x Lord Eddards Chambers

1x Godswood

2x Great Keep

2x Northern Fiefdoms

It's true that BotFM is banned from tournament play, but that shouldn't stop you from using it in your casual games.

Apart from that, I haven't got much time to comment on the deck right now, so I'll limit myself to three short remarks:

- If you're running the Wildling Agendas, you should run all three of them. Stealth on all Wildlings is really worth the additional 2 power you need to win. Also, your Direwolf and Wildling Armies get even cheaper.

- Speaking of the Wildling Army: You really want to run that one 3x in a Wildling Deck.

- I'm a huge fan of Feral Pack, don't get me wrong, but I don't think it works well in this particular kind of deck. FP's ability only works in decks with Stark characters only, and you've got plenty of Neutrals.

If you're serious about Wildlings, you might want to check out Erick Butzlaff's deck that won the Black Friday tourney last year, and his excellent tourney report .

Have fun!

I'm not serious about wildlings, just thought they would work better than Night's Watch, though without BoTFM they might not. I only use 1 wildling horde on purpose, so it doesn't interrupt with Feral Pack which I see as more important to the theme as this is still intended to be predominately a Direwolf deck. As such, my other wildlings include Jon Snow and Osha, who are Stark anyway, and the others don't stay on the field for long, with the exception of Mance Raydar who is intended for late game use to lower your necessary Power for the win.
