Unique locations

Just wondering why expansions and chapter packs give multiples of unique cards such as "Bear Island" if only 1 can be used in a deck. Are these cards able to be carried up to 3 per deck? I have seen peoples deck builds that carry more than 1 copy of "Bear Island" and am wondering how it can be used as I have believed I can only have 1 copy that is playable?

You can have 3 copies in your deck, but only 1 in play at a time. The duplicates of locations are useful to draw them earlier, as protection against location destroying effects and as they are not killed like characters you can play them again if they get destroyed in some way and you draw into another later.

Thanks, I was thinking of the dead pile regarding characters as to why the multiples would not be of use, but this now makes sense. so as long as only 1 is in play, if it gets removed from play the multiples can be put into play!

Don't forget that you can use them to duplicate the copies in play, too, and use the duplicates as saves. It may be better to save the location from being discarded in the first place, rather than to watch it be discarded, then have to pay for it again.

All those rules for dupes apply to any unique card, not just characters.

And there are some unique locations that you will want 3x in a deck but not necessarily to use as dupes... like Rhaenys's Hill which is pretty brutal in a burn deck or Dothraki deck.

Rhaenys' Hill is really brutal. Maybe it should have the deathbound keyword, or even a once per game restriction. Then again, 4 gold may be restriction enough. It's not like Targ is dominating the metagame with it, right? Still, brutal effect.

OOH in GJ is where it shines, i think
