Does anyone have that wonderful Arkham Horror flowchart?

Hmm... I don't think I'd want to skype a game of MoM, but I'd skype a game of AH someday if you're game.

Yep. Let's do a marvellous Atlach-against-Avi&Julia match ::laughter::

Well, Avi, in that 2-month period while Julia gets the game, you could grow a beard. That'd solve TWO of your problems! gran_risa.gif

Julia, Avi, et al...

I know people say "Skype" as shorthand for any video-conferencing; just curious if anyone uses ooVoo? I've been using ooVoo for the past few years with a friend in FL with whom I've played/DM'd a long-standing D&D adventure and most recently a Traveller adventure. Anyway, I know that ooVoo can support at least two folks for free . . . after that, it can get expensive for the casual user.

Yes, but then I'd have a beard, and that'd be a whole new problem.

CL would love it! I'm pretty sure :-D

Professor,

I never tried ooVoo, I'm sorry. I use Skype very rarely, basically once per month just to bother Avi with some Custom league rules questions. But yes, it's great to have the chance to communicate with other people over such a great distance. And it makes a lot easier the play-by-mail gaming

Considering that everything freaks Cthuleon Leozardo out, a beard probably would too.

He's still young. Give him time. And remind him of noble nature of almost-tentacled creature

That's true. I could tell him it is my hairy face tongue.

Beards are awesome. In the past 15 years I've shaved it off once (about 2 years ago) and immediately afterwards decided to grow it back. Immediately afterwards. I wanted to see what I looked like without it, and was not happy.

Our group is loving MoM. We usaully play it when we have 4 or 5 players around. There have been some issues with errata already (sadly), but the game can have some great tension. In one session I ran the investigators only encountered one monster the entire game, but I was able to use the tools of the Keeper to keep the tension high and work slowly at driving them insane. It was amazing! I never thought a game could capture that kind of tension, but it did.

It is much better than Betrayal. Betryal suffers from the problem that a) everyone knows who the traitor is when the trigger occurs and b) everyone knows what the goal is. In MoM, the players know who is working against them (the Keeper) but not why, and since every sceanrio has three different objectives, and multiple options for where certain items and clues can be found, the game will change from game to game. I've run the same scenario 3 times now, each with a different objective, and each has played out differently. And unlike Decent, it is not a monster crawl. You have to work towards finding out the secrets of the house/cult or you will lose.

Also, you likely cannot play it by yourself, unless you have a masochistic streak.

Oh, and I changed my avatar so that I can't be burned by that match anymore. aplauso.gif So say we all.

Your new avatar looks like Lewis Black.

Lewis Black only wishes he was as cool as Edward James Olmos. I mean, I like Lewis, but EJO was in Blade Runner, the greatest movie of all time!

It's going to take some getting used to. I may switch back. Adama is still my favrotie BSG character (and it's my favorite TV show), but I somehow identify more with the pic from Android. But I'll keep this one for awhile.

I'm glad they got new avatars. Some of them are pretty sweet. Almost went with Joe Diamond from the Mansions section.

to Julia,

I had a Skype account several years ago, but I found the overall quality of the audio and video lacking in contrast to ooVoo. Anyhoo, if the idea of an around-the-world Skype-based Arkham Horror Marathon ever takes place, I'll certainly sacrifice one stamina for the cause...

And if my computer decides to hold such epic-ness, you have my sword!

...please, I beg you ...we'll have another handful of people pledging other assorted LotR weapons in no time if you keep this up...

We could organize something crazy for 2012! it'd be interesting mixing different gaming styles and see how quick we'll able to bring Avi on the edge of a nerve crysis ::laughter::

That's interesting, but how would it actually work? Everyone sets up the game at their house and then proxies the moves announced by the other players connected through skype? It seems pretty time-consuming...not good since the game takes a lot of space in each house (for me it's my dining table, while I'm playing I can't eat proper food!). Still it's a very interesting idea. Of course there is also the fact that some of our versions of the game are translated in languages other than english. Hmm...

Avi, I found another mega-comprehensive modular reference sheet I had saved previously. If you give me an email, I can send it to you (it's 729 kb). I use this one plus the one posted by STEMALO when I play.

No thanks :') I already made one of my own that I'm satisfied with.

I've played a game on Skype before. The trick is using AH wiki to keep track of what is out instead of actually playing with proxy cards. And having papers that are proxy maps of the board. It takes a bit longer, but Tibs and I managed to have a game done in about five hours? (On our first try, i.e. it wasn't that well organized).

Heh, 5 hours is how long a game usually takes when I'm soloing... :P

Really? Mine last around three hours.

Speed-Arkham for me tends to be 2 hours max.

Non-speed arkham usually lasts between 2-3 hours. Then again, I leave my board out, so that saves about 45 minutes right there...

45 minutes just to get the board out of the box gran_risa.gif ? Talk about taking it slow.

And break down, too! At least that's what people say...Though, personally, I don't time myself when I do set up or break down. And when I transport it, I'm usually doing so to play with others, and they help me set-up/break-down so that lowers the time there. I think I pulled the 45 minute thing from some BGG posts
