The Bonds of Dynasty Locations Thread

By Sokahrthumaniel, in Fan Art

Hello,

I have been GMing The Bonds of Dynasty, a Rogue Trader game for myl ocal club (Mairitime Games) for the past 5 weeks, and things are really kicking off now. But i am finding it hard to describe the worlds that they are finding, and especially the ones that they were meant to be raised on.

Not being much of an artist outside of inkk, model painting and digital landscapes, I find it extremely hard to do the busier, highly urban worlds such as Hive and mainstream Imperial worlds, but I have turned my hand to the more barren and unsettled worlds in my story.

To this end, I present my Deviant Art account for harsh critique - i have recycled some of my old lo-res stuff when I started playing with terragen many years ago and have started to make new, relatively hi-res (1920 by 1080 currently) works for the player homeworlds.

Currently only Tassa (our Deathworld raised Arch Militant) has her world on display, but soon i will hopefully find some collaborative assistance in getting some hive/metropolis/warship art thrown together.

Any ideas you can throw at me would be welcome, i cannot guarantee work appearing quickly, as the demands of University, running RT and the likes mean I lack for spare time, but I will seize upon any descriptive suggestions for landscapes and worlds and hopefully churn out some form of graphical respresentation, if only to further the effect it has been having on my players!

Thank you in advance!

Well, they all seem quite well made, I'm no expert, but I quite like them, very good at delivering that certain atmosphere.

Any chance of you doing a Hive or Forge world?

Currently inundated with coursework, but I am looking into improving my metropolis-drawing skills. Hopefully i will be able to deliver something by easter (when i get all this work out of the way).

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated!

I agree, great sense of atmosphere. No real critiques, just looking forward to more of your work.

very cool, though i'd have left the camels out of the desert one.

They look great, but for WH40K I would look for something a bit grittier here and there, as filth and squalor are as much a part of the vast Imperium of man as glory and splendour. Especially Hive Cities, that should rise from deep wastelands polluted by millenia of industry, towering and decaying at the same time. But, obviously that is my take, and I could not even try to make such pictures.

get a few photos of an industrial/petrochemical strip at night, and go nuts with the clone brushes :)
