Blood of the Dragon with QoD Dany

By JerusalemJones, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

If I am running the QoD Dany ("Dragon characters you control do not kneel to attack.") and I have a character with the Blood of the Dragon attachment, am I correct that this character does not kneel to attack, since this is a passive ability that takes effect the moment I declare the character as an attacker?

The way I see it, Blood of the Dragon as a constant is not "on" when you declare character as an attacker. To be "on" you need this character to participate, so you need to kneel him to participate (if you don't kneel him, then he is not participating, thus has no Dragon trait).

Yeah, Rogue is right.

Blood of the Dragon is a "when participating," not a "during a challenge" restriction. Since the character only get the Dragon trait/+6 when it is participating, and it must be knelt in order to be declared as a participant, how exactly are you figuring there is a time when he is participating but not knelt yet?

Anyway, remember that declaring the challenge type/opponent and declaring/kneeling attackers are all part of initiating the challenge. If you don't do both, the challenge has not started. So it's not like there is a time between "I declare a military challenge" and "I attack with this character" in which the challenge duration has started.

No matter how you slice it, the character has to have the Dragon trait before it is declared as an attacker in order to take advantage of QoD Dany.

Darn, blows that idea.

Rhaegar's Harp would still do the trick though

This just in, Blood of the Dragon, still not any good. :)

It alright. +6 isnt bad, and it will synergize with cards like dragon bite and the new dragons in QoD.

Yeah, but "it's alright" is kind of a hard sale for a 3-gold attachment. IMHO.

I think it is a very good attachment on Khal Drogo from DotN

or on Pit Viper

I don't have it in front of me, but if memory serves me correctly, its a Condition attachment too, right? We are all aware of the problem with those... maybe something in the Targ box will make it look better, but for now, a 3-gold Condition just doesn't do it for me, even if it combos well with a few other cards.

Yeah. It would be much better if it had the Ambush keyword.

Or if they reprinted the House of Talons Daario that let you play your attachments at any time by spending influence.
