Anyone else want WFRP figures?

By ToPeace, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

FFG produces figures for Arkham Horror and City of Thieves. I would purchase figures for WFRP. Anybody else?

Not really sure why we would need them, given that Games Workshop already produces literally thousands of very high quality figures and models.

I would not really expect FFG to have the production capacity to produce figures with enough quality and variety to make it a viable product. It can be quite expensive to do it well.

Not that i'm saying it wouldnt be cool, but i know i'd be comparing them to GWs models and that is a very high standard.

Gitz

We already got tokens that this game is based on. Let FFG stick to high quality tokens and I will be satisied.

Plus I have a feeling GW may have issue with FFG putting out miniatures for the system. It in all likeliness would be seen as direct conflict. But as it's been said GW and many other companies put out lots of fantasy based miniatures. FFG should stick with the current format and just use the stand-ups. Easier to package, easier to tote around etc...etc....

I have a ton of fantasy and future figs, but I would still buy a set of the 'rednecks' from Gathering Storm :D

The GDW set of Empire Militia (plastic, glue together to make each as you like) is great for creating NPC's with pistols, muskets, swords etc.

And yes, I can't see GDW letting FFG produce warhammer miniatures. They wouldn't licence it as long as they produce such.

I would definitely be interested in buying miniatures specifically designed for WFRP - but only if they're pre-painted, like in Tannhauser and the Arkham Horror Investigators line. I already have a ton of GW models sitting around unpainted, and personally I find the colorful stand-ups that FFG makes for WFRP are better looking than primered minis (plus you can have more of them for quite a bit less, which is handy for representing hordes of monsters).

However, I agree that it's beyond doubtful GW would ever let FFG produce minis for any of their licensed games. I believe this is probably why we won't see any Space Hulk expansions from FFG, other than card-based games like Death Angel.

That's the reason why there's no usable minis in Chaos in the Old World. So don't hold your breath. It ain't happening.

I'd be more interested in purchasing or downloading more npc cardboard units. i've already had to create my own for massive battles. Five beastman ain't enough!

I almost feel this is a troll post... but I guess I should be less skeptical.

Anyway, Games-Workshop produces quite an extensive line of miniatures for Warhammer Fantasy Battles. Some are plastic and others are metal. All are quite appropriate for this setting and would represent your characters well on the table. Wood Elves, High Elves, Empire and Dwarf armies are all fully represented in this line of minis and should suit your needs for almost any kind of character concept.

For those interested in halflings, there are archival models available on the GW website that will help as well.

Hope this helps.

For those that don't know or don't remeber - FFG will not make any figure for WFRP becouse they can't. The licence from GW does not let them to do any.

So if You want some figure You must buy those from GW from such titles like Warhammer Fantasy Battle or Mordheim. In some cases You can even use those from Lord Of The Rings.

Thanks all for the responses. I had not thought about the licensing, but I don't want to do the painting. That's why I'd like pre-painted mini's as FFG produces for their other games.

GW. GDW is Games Designers Workshop. They were the ones that originally did Traveller.

If FFG produced a collector's line of plastic, pre-painted miniatures based on the Career Sheet paintings and packaged/priced like the Arkham Investigators set, that would be HOT. Count me in.

They will not do this becouse they can't. The licence from GW forrbidds them to do so. So stop talking about this - the'res no chances for them.

If there is a ban on producing plastic figures for GW-licensed products, how did FFG manage to provide plastic miniatures in Horus Heresy and in Chaos in the Old World?

I have been very impressed with FFG's ability to work with GW, and to create products that GW itself would never have agreed to in the past, such as Black Crusade and player-character aliens in Rogue Trader, and even the Horus Heresy remake and the Death Angel card game. The quality of FFG's licensed products and their success in the marketplace have created a situation where the door is always open to creative, new ideas.

Those are playing pieces, not miniatures :)
