Hand of the King

By Mighty Jim 83, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Under the new 'Hand of the King' variant, am I right in thinking that if you had Tywin Lannister as your hand, then once he reached 5 gold and was 'in play' you could add his usual 2 gold a turnto the one gold you add for him being the hand?

if that's the case, Aside from the fact that it would take 5 rounds to get him in play, is there any reason not to choose him as your hand?

"Card effects cannot be used to place or move Gold Tokens onto or off of a player’s Hand of the King. Gold Tokens on a player’s Hand of the King cannot be used to pay the cost of cards or card effects."

Tywin's "place 2 gold on Tywin" is a card effect (his own), so it cannot be used to put additional gold on him. And the rules also make his "spend gold" ability useless.

This piece of the variant rules pretty much shuts down any usefulness of CS-Tywin as the Hand. The King's Landing/Shadow Tywin would be a better choice (same stats/cost, but has Renown and an ability that actually does something).

Shame, hadn't spotted that.
