Chaos!

By crisaron, in Dark Heresy

I hope it includes a massive mutation chart like the one found in WFRP's Tome of Corruption. And while I know this will be a standalone book, I hope it contains enough tools easily facilitate campaigns about fallen Acolytes, Rogue Traders, Inquisitors, and Space Marines.

I know it said standalone rpg, but would it be compatible with DH?

Probably, that way they can cut and paste a lot of stuff.

Think it will fit the same power scale?

This is chaos... I'd expect it to run the gamut.

My headache will soon increase as psyker rules will no doubt differ from both Dark Heresy and Black Crusade.

Chaos offers only lies and deception. The true power lies with the EMPEROR. so no, it'll be weaker

I am dismayed by FFG churning out a forth 40K product line. Besides the fact that I fear that they are spreading their resources thin (they already aren´t known for being up to their own schedule), it means another repitition of rules and fluff and stuff.

Producing a book that brings out Chaos add-ons and character generations tweaks for all the lines already part of the product portfolio might have been possible for the same price since so much space would have been saved for not repeating the core rules and core fluff.... unless they are now going to launch a system really different from what they adopted as they took over from Black Industries. Which I doubt.

Look at it from the other direction.

You only want to play a follower of Chaos, why should you have to spend your money on a **** DH/RT/DW book?

It's the same reason they didn't just make a supplemental book for Dark Heresy that let you play Space Marines, or have your own starship, instead of making you start buying from a whole new line.

Oh ye of little faith lengua.gif

As N0-1-H343 said over on the new Black Crusade forum, he's done quite a lot of work on it, and he wouldn't have done if it was all going to be repitition from previous books like Radicals, etc.

Which just sets my mind a whirl with all the possible new stuff we'll be getting out of it.

**** you FFG! Why do you want all my money!? Can't I eat some time?

You can eat when you're dead.

You won't need food; let Chaos sustain you...

Not so sure about that.

RENEGADES have no real powerbase aside from perhaps other renegades, so they are significantly weaker than the Imperium of man. HERETICS have other heretics to fall back on, the warp to command, their gods (in theory) to turn to, and an entire region of space (the Eye of Terror) to themselves. and we wont just be playing rank and file cultists here. i think its safe to assume that they will have a comprable power scale.

Do not fight it! Embrace the powers of Chaos!

I think it will be interesting cause it will give you alot of imperium based NPCs that you can fight against as well as some classes (Im not familar with Death Watch at all) and weaopns. This would allow me to throw new shiny weapons at my Acolytes. Plus I could allow them to play as a chaos cultist that is trying to seek retribution from the God Emperor.

While I don't know the Tome of Corruption I'm working on a improved mutation chart which will, for example, imclude something like astartes blood, which will give you one of the SM special organs, like the one letting you spit acid or the one letting you eat dead foes to gain temporary knowledge this foe possessed.

Don't know yet when I manage to write it together but I'll share it once it'd done.

It is for a game I want to start where the PCs are near normal throne agents at first and sooner or later find out their Inquisitor is working for his own good, secretly plotting to further chaos. (The playery will know from the start)
