The rules allow you a "single attack" which would seem to include semi-auto fire, but I just wanted to make sure.
Hip shooting - can you semi / full auto?
Yes you can, you aren't by chance swedish are you?
I'd prefer a response more impartial than one from the jackwad player being affected
Well thats not very nice

Well, if he's your GM then you deserved it.
My RT core book was at hand, Hip shooting in there specifies that Hip Shooting is Single Shot only.
Generally, if the text says single attack it means single shot, no semi/full auto.
We trade off being GM, so his time will come
Here I thought it was about love, not revenge :'(
And thanks for the rule clarification, I assure you that everyone in my gaming group appreciates it!
thanks for the heads up on that one, so where it says 'single attack' it literally means single shot?

Generally speaking, yes.
Hip shooting gives you one attack, which could be a single shot, auto-fire or even two-weapon weilding (ballistic) with auto-fire.
From my question last year to the developers:
_______________
I just wanted to take a moment to address your question about hip
shooting.
Hip shooting allows you to make a pistol attack as part of your full
move. A "Single attack with a pistol" does not have to be a single
shot. A semi or full auto shot is a "single attack". If you have two-
weapon wielder you can make two shots as part of a "single attack
action" that requires two dice rolls.
Hip shooting is a great talent, allowing a character to be mobile,
moving and shooting together. It's one of those talents that makes
your character very dynamic. Keep in mind, however, that he might be
restricted by the GM's discretion by terrain features or other issues.
I hope this helps!

Great. So, now we have two definitions of "single attack" from FFG. This is irritating. This revelation sure makes hip shooting a pretty great power. Although, I suppose you miss out on aiming...

Is this the same kind of "single attack" that was interpreted to mean you can't use SA or FA in melee combat with pistols?

Yup, that'd be the one. Hence I said "generally" and left myself a back door.

Most of the time you get ONE hit with a weapon I hear it referred to as a "Standard Attack." In general I agree though, havng traits and actions named similarly can get a little confusing, and they do seem a little wishy washy when it comes to how many times you get to shoot on what mode in different circumstances. Also nice to see Mack and Ross
Though from the looks of it it really seems pretty harmless to House Rule, just make sure it fits the flavor of your game and doesn't overshadow someone. Personally I'm not a fan of firing full atuo with two pistols while running and not having some kind of reduction in accuracy, but maybe that's just me.
As much as they mesh DK is a game than system RT and DW. I think the Standard Attack=Single shot melee is from DW.

To be fair a character paid a hefty price to do so.
Do you mean Dark Heresy when you say DK?
I meant Death Watch.
DK makes even less sense for Deatwatch than it does for Dark Heresy, lol.
