Yeah, I think Gualdo's right here. So long as artists are respectful, I think "fan art" (which is essentially what this is) is unlikely to provoke FFG. Many/most companies embrace fan art, so long as the maker doesn't try to sell the creation. If FFG were to go after fan art , it would be very disruptive to the community and likely the business as a whole, but I don't think that's likely at all.

Well, technically fan art would be the art in the frame work, but the template itself and icons would all be covered under some sort of license. It is your site, you can do what you want, but I you hosting it makes any illegality done on the part of the creator something you can legally be held responsible for (take a look at all the music sharing sites that were forced to close down or were sued into bankruptcy for an example).

I am not an IP lawyer but I do know that certain aspects of Trademark law involves a company being forced to protect its rights otherwise it can lose them, i.e. forced to shut down a fansite to be able to prevent someone from printing and selling such fan art. A Call of Cthulhu player was asked to take down fan art story cards... now his had something to do with providing a way for them to be printed and I have no idea if you are going to make that part of it... but personally I'd take a very conservative stance on this rather than risk them being in a position where they are forced to take action.

But if FFG would initiate something like you said against fan art that are free, are not sold, are made just for fun... would be very sad and for sure will provoke lots of people stop buying their products... so I think this would be not a good move...

It's not mere "fanart" though. FFG could be worried that the cards misrepresent the game they have developed, particuarly to new players/new potential customers.

Also tzumain had some fan art in the site... i don't know if FFG ever complained... anyway, i don't see how new players would be confused for fan art :-)

If I play a game I don't consider fan art if not only for fun... sincerely i don't see the point on your fan art hate :-)

Gualdo I think you are making a very critical mistake in the point I'm trying to make. In the US FFG may have no choice but to require such uses of the IP to be pulled, or risk giving up the right to stop someone infringing upon it for profit, as well as potentially violating their contract with George R. R. Martin who they hold a license with for the A Song of Ice and Fire books.

You may be creating a situation that upsets the fans and looses FFG money, AGoT players, and potentially upsets the working relationship between Mr. Martin and FFG, all because you don't want to send a simple email asking if doing this is okay.

Lol... i'm detroyng the world!!! :-) Anyway I didn't posted nothing yet. It is only a project... and the cards are not even mine so... if I'm going to make "agot players upset" I will not post nothing... hope also Martin and FFG don't go angry about some fan arts and will not "persecute" spanish people drawing cards with their name for fun... ahhh last thing... I'm making also FFg loose money... this is funny!!! I'm not upset... just I think that if FFG and Mr Martin will break working together cause some fan art are in place, this could not be real world... at least i hope.

All those things I pointed out were based purely on your statements. If people get upset that FFG enforces its legal rights so they quit then, IMO, they were never really in for the long hall to begin with. The point was when you start making fan made sets available to the general public FFG may be required to send a cease and desist letter, and have you take down the content. If you don't want them to do that, then a simple email asking if there is any problems with this would be so incredibly simple, that I cannot fathom why you would choose not to do it before you went that route.

If we decide to publish fanart I will follow your suggestion.

Thx to wolfgang (CCG promo) and twn2dn (Ice and fire event house cards) We added PROMO cards in the site.

The cards are ready to be rated, commented, used in deck builder. I'm releasing on OCTGN2 topic the link to download PROMO plugin so you can make deck building with promo and export decks in OCTGN2.

We updated also already spoiled DRAGONS and OLDTOWN cards (waiting the release of AT THE GATES that should be near - in europe we might have it at the beginning of next week --> I will inform you when spoilers will be published cause I have lots of friends in stores all around europe/USA ready to send me scans). Also related to them you can start make deck building using them. Since the set is not yet out, of course you cannot use them yet in OCTGN2 but as soon as I will release new oldtown/dragon plugin your decks will be compatible with that.

I wonder about those printing errors though. After all, the pack was already delayed because of issues at the printer, and now they're still putting out an erratic product? Disappointing, unless the cards you got a hold of are somehow not the corrected version they are shipping now.

I received cards from lots of sources and I think this is final version. Anyway erros in numebring is strange.

I say this, cause I have italian cards scans (from this month we have game translated) and also in italian there are those errors :-( So I think the scans sent are "original".
