Jet packs and scout armour are they compatable?

By Hardrainfalling, in Deathwatch Gamemasters

Can a marine wearing scout armour still use a jet pack? the question arose as a player wanted to create a sniper marine using stealth once in postion and a sniper rifle using the jet pack to get to those high vantage points like roof tops etc

The Jetpacks normally attach to the marines backpack power unit. Since scout armor does not have a back pack power unit I would say no. There are jet packs that have there own power supply. A space marine could hypothetically use one from Dark Heresy. Not sure if the stats are different.

The fluff for Jump Packs (p171) specifically states it's for Astartes Power Armour. So not Scout Armour or Terminator armour. It attaches to the power unit of the armour, and scout armour lacks that unit.

Additionally I've never seen a Scout Marine figure with a jump pack, and I imagine it'd burn your legs!

Just use normal power armour and buy a masking field or a chameoline cloak.

Also: It weighs 50kg. It's probably not very easy to be sneaky when carrying 50kg, without any power armour to help you.

The astartes harness, and grapple, from core and RoB respectively should get him where he wants to go.

And maybe a grav-chute on top of that, perhaps.

No jump packs and scout armor, but how about scout bikes and scout armor.

Or scout armour and a Land Speeder Storm.

I don't see a problem with with either of thse. Mostly as they're vhicles.

Scout bikes have a grenade launcher on the front of them, don't they? I don't recall.

I do remember them having a homing beacon for teleports. I think that's standard on all bikes.

Scout Bikes have the option of upgrading to a grenade launcher, standard is a twin linked bolter.

They do indeed have locator beacons standard though. That would make for some interesting missions.

Actually, from looking in Marine Codex, the locator beacon is an option for the sergent.

Yes, for the Sargent. But I just loked it up today, they are a standard on scout bikes of any type.
