Kroot question about an Eldar based kindred

By jordiver2, in Rogue Trader House Rules

so I have a new player in our RT game, playing a Kroot shaper since he digs the whole genetic thing that they do (eating corpses to gain the strength of their prey). He specifically wants to have an Eldar based bloodline, which we want to sit down and make a home brewed option for. I thought I might base it off of one of those provided in Into the Storm, but putting some work into something unique looks rewarding enough to pry me away from just the given choices.

There were 2 provided backgrounds that might have been close in my mind, the Stalker kindred and the Cunning kindred, but the Eldar aren't really "invisible" or good negotiators with a head for numbers per se, so I set those aside. I also felt the player would be happier with something more unique (the Lord-Captain on board has hired on 1000 stalker Kroots, so that's another reason). He also wants to work toward creating a stronger Eldar kindred, perhaps with psychic abilities being the ultimate goal, a great strength that the Kroot haven't shown as of yet from what I know. Of course, eating a bunch of space elves isn't regarded as the most diplomatic action towards the Eldar, so we've got that complication.

I see the Eldar sharing 1 thing in common as a racial trait: some seriously epic grace. Unnatural agility x2. But it seems both a bit boring and a tad broken to just give that to his Kroot (he'd have 3 traits at x2, since he's 4th rank). I kind of like the idea of giving a small bonus of +5 to his acrobatics and dodge tests, as well as +1 or +2 Initiative, but I also want to throw in the beginnings of psychic potential, giving him psyniscience.

So any statistical insight or fluffy background stuff that y'all think would help out would be GREATLY appreciated. Also, I've been reading these forums for a few months now as I've ran our RT game, and this is my first post. I hope to enhance this community as much as it has enhanced myself and the game I run for my friends and family.

The greenskin hybrids get a +10 to toughness not unnatural toughness so I would go with +10 to agility and something like Talented (Acrobatics).

You have made mention of it but keep it in mind that a tribe of kroot going around targeting eldar would more than irritate them. IMHO they would stop at almost nothing to put a stop to it and kill all offenders and those who were helping/associated with them. I think it is something that would push all the eldars buttons, millage may vary though.

Hubris would definitely mean that any eldar would react to a pack of 'savage cannibals' running around ripping out their heats in order to become more like them. Sure the Dark Eldar might find the idea quaint and a sign of potential, but even they would maybe at least give a 'slap' to the kindred that made a long term practice of eating eldar. Craftworld eldar would respond if it threatened their kin, or the kroot made a habit of collecting those 'shiny gems the eldar wear'.

Though if they preyed primarily on exodite eldar they might be able to get away with it, especially if the two species become neighbors on the same planet. In some ways the exodites follow a path very similar to the Kroot, so they might even become allies if 'their' planet is invaded by outsiders. They'd then go back to hunting each other as a means to keep themselves fit.

So uhmm anyways, I'd say a +10 to agility and talented acrobat sounds right. Maybe have unnatural agility as a rank 4 or higher option and costing 700 points.

Not sure how you'd work out psychic abilities, but perhaps they're now eldar enough to operate certain things like wraithswords, and other eldar technology. Replace psy rating with number of shamanic abilities instead of being psychic?

I think that just +10 Agility is more in line with what we've seen with the "Ork Hybrid." Also bear in mind that the genetic material Kroot incorporate benifits FUTURE generations. If an existing Kroot were to prey on Eldar, they themselves would not change in any way. It takes a couple of generations of selective eating for the Kroot to evolve into a new form. That's the role of the Shapers - they see the big picture & look to ensure the strength of future Kroot.

I have to agree with a bonus to agility would likely make sense. However since this group is specifically wanting to get the psychic powers and you want to give something to indicate that it's got the first signs of potential coming through perhaps give them psyniscience as a basic or trained skill. It's a far cry from psychic powers but it means that they are more sensitive to psychic energy... It's also be a very unique skill for this Kroot to have compared to the stalkers, especially with unnattural trait perception. Generally I think the only playable characters who have psyniscience in the game are astropaths, navigators and Footfallen characters.

You could have them eaten by Slaanesh at rank 3?
