Victory- finally!

By pauare67, in Death Angel

Hi

After about nine failed attempts, I finally won this afternoon. Gideon, Valencio, and Leon were all that was left of my marines with Valencio successfully activating the control panel in the Launch Room. I only had one token in the Launch Room, then rolled a ZERO! I was playing solo with six marines, cut down to three, all were surrounded by Genestealers. I had to depend on support tokens (from Support cards) to keep all three alive from the previous round. Finally, decided I had to take a chance and roll a dice to see if I could successfully activate the launch room. If I delayed any further to the next round, there would be more genestealers spawning on all three and I would never have survived the next round of attacks.

Wow...great game!

Congratulations! I remember that feeling when I won my first solo game. At the end i won with 2 marines left (and I think, it was also launch room control), there were genestealers everywhere around... but the feeling. The feeling, when I threw the die and ended the game. Some people would feel cheerful. But not me. I felt, that this was pyrrhic victory. I felt guilty for all those good men I lost in combat. I felt sad for brother Zael, who was slain in the last few minutes of the battle.

"Great victory for the Emperor," I thought. "But a sad loss for my space marines."

I know, the box says "44% chance of mission success with 86% squad casualties". But I felt sorry for them anyway :)

So, congratulations again, battle brother! And may the Emperor bless you on your future conquests!

Gratz, I am still trying for that first solo victory. I always lose half my squad in the first two rounds. Good going!
