Threat from the East

It has a key Word "Then".

If choose the effect A: Draw 3 then discard 3.

(1) If I draw 0-2 cards due to draw cap, do I need to discard 3?

(2) If I have Laughing Storm in play, I will only draw 3 cards but no discard, right?

If choose the effect B: Discard 3 then draw 3.

(1) If I only have 1-2 cards in hand, do I need to discard anyway?

(2) If I discard 0-2 cards since I have only 0-2 cards in hand, can I draw 3 then?

(3) Will Laughing Storm will prevent the effect B taking place?

btw, 2 questions.

(a) Can Laughing Storm improve Val's ability to be draw and play but no discard?

(b) Can Dark Star be put into play if somebody discard his hand to cancel "Narrow Escape"?

Keep in mind that the success or failure of the "X, the Y" in these abilities are applied to each player individually, not all players as a whole.

hand, you are considered to be discarding all your cards as a single set, not discarding each card individually. Effectively, you do not discard The Darkstar from you hand when you discard your entire hand en masse, so the play restrictions of the ability are not met.

It seems that you miss the first question.

You said "Correct" but I think it may be the second one's answer.

Anyway, I think it should be "no" for my first question.

If you draw fewer than 3 cards for any reason, you do not discard any because you did not successfully complete the "draw 3 cards" part before the word "then."

No. Discarding your hand and discarding a card from your hand are two different things as explained by the FAQ.

These cards are both on the Restricted list. So you are unable to use both in the same deck.
