Argonel and I have decided that during the break between leagues we're going to try out an idea of his on Wednesday, January 14th, at The Gamers Den in Cambridge, starting at roughly 6:00pm. Consider this a general invite to either show up and play, meet with the players from the Gamers Denizens of the Deep team, or just hang with other gamers, and maybe try a new game.
Pacifists of Arkham uses just the main game and the Kingsport Horror expansion. Prior to the start of the game, all
Weapon
cards will be removed from the Common and Unique Item decks, and the Martial Arts skill also will not be allowed (Lily Chen would then get a random skill, if she were used). We have yet to determine if combat spells will be similarly excluded, but at present i do not think so. We will also be playing with one of the Guardians from KH -- though at present, we don't know which one. We've never played with a Guardian before, so knowing us it will be random.
There has been some discussion about this type of scenario on our store's Message Boards (we're at www.gamersden.net ), but if anyone else has some input about the rules feel free to post them. I will state, however, that we have pretty much gone over every argument about why we should have some weapons, and have simply decided to stick with no weapons, as that was Argonel's original idea, and the only way to learn if it works is to play it. We did decide that the Deputy's Revolver will be allowed, as it serves as a carrot for someone who really wants a weapon.
