Quick question...if i have 4 gates... 2 on an expansion board and 2 on the main board and a monster surge occurs and the main boards monster limit is full would both expansion board gates receive 2 monsters a piece....or would each gate get one evenly putting one on each expansion board gate and the other 2 into the outskirts?

this came up last night because of a monster surge from Strange Sightings! with a gate in devils reef...there were already 2 monsters on devils reef and adding another 2 and making them all move would have ended the game pretty fast

1 monster comes out of each gate.

This means that each Innsmouth gate gets one monster.

Monsters that are supposed to appear on the Arkham gates are subject to the monster limit and may go to the outskirts.

As an addendum, since it occured because of strange sightings there is no official "surging gate" if there's an uneven amount of monsters to place on gates. In that case, I suppose the first player chooses as he's placing monsters. Usually not an issue, but if you have more players than gates (or Mother Hydra) it is!

in a 5 person + game if first mythos card puts a gate a devils reef...and the next mythos card is Strange Sightnings... as long as the monsters are not statinary or flying its AO battle turn 2 correct? lol

That's happened before, or close to it. I know someone who lost in 3 or 4 turns because it was Devil Reef, Y'thanlei, then Devil Reef again (you can probably blame his/her shuffling skills). Heck, maybe it was just two turns, depending on who moved when...

Odds are pretty low, like a first turn win or someone winning with the AO at 0 Doom Tokens. Possible? Sure! Rare? Yup!

hehe i know its rare I just thought it would be kinda funny... i pictured setting up the game, invite people over, everyone gets all excited and settled, first mythos card...devils reef...someone volunteers to go deal with it ASAP... first encounters yadda yadda...mythos card 2.... Azethoth FTW! everyone rage quits and goes home...

Yep, just beware that when resolving a Mythos card, you resolve the monster movement before the special text of the card. So, basically, whenever you have a Strange sightings card, you move all monsters first, and then resolve the monster surge. So monsters emerging at Devil reef because of the surge won't enter the vortex on that round, and you still have some time to go slaughtering them before it's too late

Yes, it was Yibb-Tstll. I got one or two Eltdown Shards, stared with Marie Lambeau (I can't remember if I passed her story), and I think I had an elder sign. I might have passed Tommy's story and I definitely picked up William Bain as an ally. Poor Yibb got whittled down to nothing and then sent back to sleep by a closing victory.

now that that mystery is solved, Julia, can you please inform us as to how you got a ridiculous score of 48? That is, if you remember :-p

Yep, no probs, Atlach-Nacha as the AO, Patrice Hathaway with two press-passes as the Guardian. The more Atlach tried to open new gates, the more Patrice produced clues to seal him away. Patrice won the game, after I-cannot-remember how many hours of sufference. It was fun :-) Generally speaking, all my Atlach games have a ridicuolous score.
