Proven Weapons

By Umbranus, in Dark Heresy

I'm wondering if the proven weapon quality applies to weapons doing D5 for Damage.
Like the one Pistol that was changed in the errata to to 2D5 instead of 1D10.

The proven quality can be found in the heresy-begets-retribution file downloadable from the DH support page.

Why not? Just keep in mind that the 'proven' quality is meant for the end result, not for each individual die roll. So a proven 3 pistol with 2D5 would mean that the result is 3+ no matter the die result. Which basically means that the lowest result a 2 is changed to 3. It would be a bit silly to give the same weapon proven 2 as this is already the lowest possible result.

Henceforth this could be given to any weapon (if gm permits) also weapons with e.g. 3D10+4, lowest result is 7 so the least 'proven' value would then be 8 (or if you want 4 if you only look at the die results). AFAI'm concerned 'proven' just depicts the lowest possible result.

ok, I thought it was per die rolled. Wich would lead to minimal 6 on 2D5.
Seems I have to reread it.

You sure about that? The rule states pretty clearly it is for each die roll, not total.

I can't find the download, you got a link?

There you go. And yes, it does say "any damage die roll".

So my interpretation that a 2d5 weapon would have a minimum of 6 is right?

because

The pistol I was refering to is the Mariette Cylinder Pistol from the inquisitor's handbook.

"The correct damage rating for the Mariette is 2d5+3" (Errata 3.0 page 14)
