unboxing the game and a double sided crate/crate token

By The Thing In The Attic, in Tannhauser

My Tannhauser game came yesterday and i set to unboxing it. I was unlucky in that i didn't get a newer, revised set. I did order a revised rule book as well as the game just for this eventuallity.

However my glee at the new game was a little tarnished due to two of the counters slightly ripping when unopping them from the carboard spruces. the tokens were crates and the rip was on the backside so it's obvious which create is in play on the board.

I also reieved a create token with a crate on both sides... is that right, or is it a mistake? I cant see anything in the rules to see how to use it.

Also one of the Reichs stat markers is completey different to the others, is this normal? It has a german cross symbol whereas the others are like a compass.

Looking forward to my first game this Friday night though

Sorry to hear about your torn tokens, but if you stick with Tannhauser you'll get more than enough new crate tokens in the expansions, I think I have over fifty of them now.

FFG is also pretty good about sending out replacement parts, but I don't know how they handle paper products like tokens. A girl named Thaadd works for FFG's customer service and she takes care of replacements.

The double crate is the empty box it's sort of a zonk. you can also use it as a proxy for a crate token you don't have.

The Iron Cross style health indicator is for Eva, she's a member of a different unit so she has a different symbol.

Hope that helps.

also, since FFG has purchsed rights and subsequently released material (starting with trooper packs, hoax etc), i've noticed that the tokens are slightly thicker, easier to punch out with less 'paper nub'

Thanks for the meet and greet.

I did find, by accident, a previous post about the double flip crate. I had done a search the forum attempt before i posted this thread and came up with way too many entries to go through. but after i posted i began browsing randomly and i just thought " ok i,ll just hit page 15" and there was the post about the double flip crate.

the tokens were a ***** to break out of the really thick board, and i was careful, but yeah it's not a huge big deal for me, i,m quite resourceful and can make a fix, I can use a black marker to touch up the torn part as it is thankfully only on the black border, and its only on the victory point ones.

i'm actually thinking a good idea is to get some model crates for the board spaces as mentioned in another forum post and then put all of the counters in a cup or bag and draw as required, that way when i get the expansions and end up with the different artwork i've read about it won't matter.

I'm breaking this out tomorrow night, with 4 of my mates. can't wait

Had an awesome two games last night, the only difficulty we experienced was that some of the circles were not equally spaced apart and so we couldn't work out if they were meant to be adjacent or not. we ruled that only the nearest adjacent circles were indeed actually adjacent for movement and determining range.

this was more notice able at certain pinch points, in corridors and doorways on the board, when an enemy was standing on the actual nearest adjacent circle, and there was an adjacent circle that seamed a bit too far to be really adjacent. edit*** can the current activated character move past the enemy or does the enemy block . This problem is more apprent by the doorway in the corridor leading to the spiral stairs. the circles are red/purple, red, red/yellow/pink, red, red/blue, red/purple

another other question that came up was what happens to dropped eqipment if a debris counter is placed on the same space as a result of a genade weapon.

also when a character dies he drops his disposable equipmnent' what happens when a trooper dies and you want to bring him back on as a rienforcement with the same equipment pack?

thegame did flow well and was easy to play, if we stumbled over a problem we all agreed on a solution and carried on.

edit*** we were playing classic rules set.

I'm not familiar with the classic rules, but:

The revised rules have an appendix that marks all adjacent circles. You said you ordered a copy, so when it arrives check that out (Page 80). In the section you mentioned, the circles form a straight path only connecting to more than one circle when they branch off into other rooms.

In the revised rules, you can bull rush the enemy. I think I recall that being in the classic, but again I'm not familiar with it. In case your revised book arrives, the page is 17.

You should be able to equipment on top of a debris counter. Just remember the debris is still there.

I'm not sure what to do about a trooper with lost equipment.

On page 26 of the revised rules is the problem with the reinforcement and equipment mentioned. ;-)

They say, that you should take some proxy tokens to refill the missing tokens, and you should remember what the lost tokens are, and was belongs to the new equipment of the troopers.
