The dungeon expasion

By crazyaxe, in Talisman

Hello everybody,

I bought "the dungeon expansion" and I can't understand the logic of it.

In my view of Talisman, if I reach about 9 in Strenght or Craft, I can win the game easily; so why I should traverse about 30 space to fight a 12/12 creature?

For a talisman? For a magical object? Only if I had about 18 in Strenght or Craft when I defeat the Dark Lord I arrive to the crown of command and win the game, but it's a not sense... 30 spaces is a lot, and other player get pumped in the meanwhile and become closer to the crown of command.

I noticed that "the highland" is more logic, if you win a 8/8 you can go everywhere.

Is there any tactics that I can't figure?

With some endings, you need to boost up to around 15 in your combat stat, Dungeon is the place to go for that. And once you start pumping up, it doesn't take much extra to kick some LoD ass. With some characters (Ogre Chieftain and Necromancer), you might not even boost your stats at all and still beat LoD by 8+, making it to the CoC with your default stats (and in under 30 minutes).

My experience is that a character with about 5 to 6 strength/craft can go into Dungeon and with a little luck boost very fast and get way ahead of other characters.

My tactic is often to boost my character to strength /craft 5 or 6 in the outer and middle region and then go for the Dungeon. I get stronger munch faster than everyone wandering around in the Mountain or main board.

My opinion is that Dungeon is the best place to boost your character.

Cheers

You are right. Ogre Chieftain and Necromancer can deliver a single monstrous hit. They should be stay in this expansion.

I love the Dungeon.

backdooring to the Crown of Command is an excellent way to try catch the others if you are running the risk of being beaten there.

When someone makes the move to the Plain of Peril. I rush the Dungeon. I have entered the Dungeon and almost back doored it a bunch of times. Just get some unlucky rolls and not make it to the CoC space.
