Eh, what the hell is that!

By Jonathan Ward, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Hi,

Just in the middle of a game and I've got McGlen in Lost Carcosa (Dunwich Board). About to resolve the OW card and checked the colour and I notice one is purple. What the hell is that? I can't seem to find it in the rule book either.

Any ideas much appreciated, and apologies if its obvious,

Cheers,

J

Hi,

Just googled it and got BGG. Printing colour wrong should be blue!!!

Back to it...

Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Mighty weird. All of my colored Innsmouth chits (read as: not black or white) are much darker than the others, so the flying monsters are more dark blue than sky blue, and the orange are darn close to red...

But! Haven't had that happen to me in OW cards. Shame it's purple, too, since it involves both blue and red...

I've never confused it for purple. In fact, it always looked like a better blue to me. The main board's blue and green are too close.

Factor in that all other colors are used, and the Dunwich OW cards only come in the four standard colors, and it's easy to conclude that it's blue.

One in three men are colour blind.... so the urban myth goes... I can't tell between the green and blue circles on my board except in very bright clear light. My wife tells me the colour though no problems.

But the slight differences in print colours are a bit annoying. Since I've been mixing items from all expansions it's really apparent: I can tell before drawing if the card's from the base game or from one of the expansions: In one expansion saturation is reduced, in another it's higher, in a third saturation is reduced only for the red colour component.

Even worse is my 'Innsmouth Look' deck: Two of the cards, including the one which transforms you into a Deep One are more 'yellowish' than the rest. I have no idea how something like that can happen in the same print run.

i too find it to be a nicer shade of blue lol...but at the same time i can see how it is confused as purple and when i was first opening my first board expansion i remember saying "oh nice there is another color OWE"...and then looking through the OWE deck i said "hmmmmm there are no cards for another color...i guess its blue..." preocupado.gif

Two members of my immediate family are color blind, one of my brothers and my sister's husband. Never been a real problem with AH. It's hell when we play Ticket to Ride, though.

it is the circles on the other world locations that get me... i really need to shine a light right on them directly to tell.
