Sorry I didn't drop in to this topic yesterday to respond. Work load and a sick wife took precedence. There are some new cards in the Tasks and Fortunes galleries, and couple in the Legends. Abilities are turning out to be the most troublesome, and I'm still running some double checks on my numbers. All cards should be taken as notions and not final inclusions or versions for whatever first pack might get put together.
@ Jon: I hadn't thought of a separate Strangers deck. I was looking to keep to a single deck vs. the old plan of three decks based on Strength, Craft, and Other. But maybe there's something therein, though it might take some reworking for some cards to adapt it.
Fortunes: This is the leanest category and needs some meaningful additions, so they (to me) promise to have the most flavour for the game that is least intrusive timewise. Hard to come up with different things that would be momentary changes of Fortune built upon a little dash of story and what the character has actually done or encountered during its turn. Need to find more good / bad pairs like Fearless/Fearful, and some neutral that could go either way. It may be that some of these (or others) should have more than one occurence in the deck.
Balance: Even though the original idea is to produce packs by card type and let groups build their own Tales deck, some suggestion of balance / ratio should be included as well. I don't know what that would be, or what others might think as median base on sample cards, so off hand maybe something like ...
1 Legend : 2 Abilities : 2 or 3 Task : 4 Fortunes.
Or perhaps a steeper ratio...
1 Legend : 2 Abilities : 4 Tasks : 6 Fortunes
Keep in mind that the middle two (Abilities / Tasks) can most often be discarded if a player doesn't want them; only one Task so far is required. That unto itself helps cycle the deck and avoids too many influences in the game (on top of that top card having to be drawn by a specific encounter condition). Other notions for any card type, as well as critique of system elements, are welcome. And I promise I'll try to get some more example Abilities up within a week.
