Cant believe that I'd be asking another question concerning armour...

So, from Rogue Trader core rulebook, 'any armour with AP of 7 or more receives some penalty'.

Now, I'd assume that a Stromtrooper Carapace Armor (AP6) do not receive any penalty. But, a best Stormtrooper Carapace Armor (AP 7), with half weight, got the penalty. Kinda weird, but well that's my conclusion reading the rules.

Personally, I'd rule that it was intended for 'any armour which gives a -starting- AP of 7', considering 7AP is when you reach power armour levels. Otherwise, you end up with some plain weird stuff with Good-craftmanship Stormtrooper carapace...

"I'm able to sneak fine! Oops, someone shot me, -30 to Silent Move and Concealment... second person shot me, now my AP is 6!"

I'd second that, it would be silly to have an armor have a penalty just beause its better craftsmanship.

Agreed, I would think no penalty in this case.

don't have the book in hand cause my appartement is well rebuilding but i can answer this. the bonus +1 of the best quality illustrate a armour that is superior to a normal one. so instead of a 6 ap you got a 7 without penality.

the penality in agilty is for armor that have a "natural" seven and more ap. a good esample is the heavy power armor described in into the storm who has a 9 ap. this one gives you penalty.
