temple guard triggering savage

By kuffdaddy, in Warhammer Invasion Rules Questions

Ok so my question is my opponent has the temple guard ( action: spend one resource to redirect the next two damage dealt to target unit you control to another target unit you control) in play in his quest zone and carnosaur rider ( Savage 3) in his battle field.

two questions arose in different games

1. I, the active player attacks his quest zone, he declares defenders, i tally and assign dmg, he takes his T.G. action redirecting two damage to his carnosaur rider triggering his savage ability

i did not think that would trigger his savage ability my opponent thinks it did. I was using the same thought process of moving damage to another unit i.e. a toughness keyword he still takes the damage because it was already applied. On the flip side i can see his argument as true as well since he moved it after it was assigned but before it was applied it triggers the savage ability

help on that would be great

2. Same temple guard can he redirect any damage done to any unit in any zone or is it any damage done to him i couldn't find any errata or clarification if "target unit" meant the temple guard or any target unit in play.

thanks in advance

1. Your opponent is correct, that is how redirection works. Redirection is not the same as "moving" damage, because you are redirecting the damage before it is applied. (Thus the recent FAQ errata that changed the wording to be "the next X damage that would be dealt")

2. He can redirect from any unit, to any unit. If he could only redirect off himself it wouldn't say "next X damage that would be dealt to target unit"

Thanks Entropy that will change things quite a bit
