Sent from the Abyss to the Dreamlands

By Advosan, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Hello ppl, first post, nice to be here :)

As a result of an OWE, the caverns split and I was sent from the Abyss (area 2 to be precise) to the Dreamlands, and the following questions occured to me:

1) Do I go to the Dreamlands area 1or 2? I resolved it as an area 1.

2) Do I have an OWE immediately at the Dreamlands? I resolved it as a yes.

3) Since no open gate to the Dreamlands existed, do I get LiTaS when it s time to go back? I chose to get LiTaS.

encounter or no encounter depends on what the card you drew said. unless it stated for you to have an encounter, you do not have one (until next round).
when moving out of second area of an other world without any open gate (and no gate box as item) you move to LiTAS, regardless of how you ended up in the other world area.

Thanx 4 the qr, appreciated :)

But, what about area moving? Area 2 of the Dreamlands (as I was in the Abyss) or area 1?

Funny sig btw.

No encounter unless the card says to draw one after you have moved.

I think the card should be this one here. So, no encounters, as the others said, simply because it's not stated on the card. And I'd have moved the investigator to Area 1 of the Dreamlands: having no instructions on where to move, I'd have played like you have just entered that realm, so Area 1. But it's just the way I'd have played it

If you moved to location 2 then you would not end up having any dreamland encounters at all since you would move before the next otherworld encounter phase and at that point it really doesn't matter that you moved at all (other than the possibility of no open gates). I would rule moving to the first space as well for that reason alone. Also I don't think that there are any official rulings on this to its kind of an interpret as you will thing.

That's a very good point. Yeah, Area 1 seems the most likely you had to enter, otherwise you won't have any Dreamlands encounter

You would be LITAS. That is a poorly designed encounter. Why should you be penalized for making 2+ Luck?

speaking of the caverns split encounter..

if there's a gate on the black cave (and you rolled 0-1 successes) you don't get an explored token, but you still don't get sucked into the gate as that's done in the arkham encounter phase and this clearly is happening in the other world encounter phase.

so, question; would i be able to move from the gate the next movement phase? it seems a tad silly, but i suppose it should be allowed?

Yes, you are allowed to move. Unless - clearly - there are some monsters on the gate forcing you to stay there (i.e. you're forced to fight or this kind of stuff). As you said, you're sucked through a gate only during the AE phase (or if a gate opens under your feet, but this is not the case), so no probs in leaving a location with an open gate on it. I think.

yea, the thing i was thinking of was if standing on a gate in mythos phase would get you drawn in, or if it only happens if the gate opens where you are. but the rules seem to reflect the former, as you said.
