How do you implement the other expansions with call to arms?

Hey

I bought Call to Arms (don't have any of the others yet) and I noticed that on the deployment cards they don't have any icons for the special units you get in the other expansions.

Do the expansions come with cards to use with call to arms or are you stuck playing the scenarios that come with each expansion?

Cheers

The scanarios that come with the expansions are to showcase the new units, and if you want to include them in Call To Amrs, the new units all have Specialist cards that let you swap out the normal units on the CtA cards for the new units (like: replace up to 2 units of blue dwarves with an equal number of Dwarven spearmen.)

Ah very good. Thanks for the reply.

And, while there hasn't been confirmation on the following, pretty sure that race specific Call to Arms deployment decks will be making their appearance in the (distant?) future. I would imagine that those would incorporate some, if not all, of the specialists from the respective races within the deployment cards themselves.

While race specific decks are most defintiely coming, I doubt specialist will be included on the deployment cards. It offers less flexibility on the deployment cards if they do and it renders the whole specialist system moot.

What about the Goblins and Dwarves then? Without the specialists they couldn't field a full army. Either the specialists will be part of the cards or we will need a Dwarf/Gobbo 'base game' that gives us lots of standard figures.

Good point. But I think you might see that some of the "specialists" are really basic units and that is what you see fielded. I heard teh Dwarvish Spearbearers are the foundation of their army and equivalent to the Human Short swords. Also, we might see that the Goblins have a generic "mounted" unit that can then be replaced with any of their mounted units, lizard, hyena, ostrich, or other wise.

But the "special specialist" will probably still be on the sidelines until drafted after initial set-up.

You don't really even neeed special army packs for the Gobbos and Dwarves. Just allow more specialist cards to be taken. Especially in friendly games, rules certainly aren't set in stone. I know when I finally get the expansions, I'll simply allow four specialist cards to be taken rather than two. That ought to be enough to field a specific race, or at least turn the tables, where the humans appear to be the mercenaries.
