Warlock, Hags, Life Springs, and Eyes, oh my!

By Mr_Self-Destruct, in Talisman Rules Questions

Girlfriend, some friends and I, just started playing Talisman a couple weeks ago and we aren't clear on some of the rules...

1) If I have a Warlock Quest to give up a follower, and I already have one; may I simply teleport to the Warlock's Lair and sacrifice one immediately?

2) If I draw the "Cursed by a Hag" card (As I do every game) or the "Poltergiest," etc, may I sacrifice them to a Warlock Mission?

3) There are many cards that leave tokens or gold on the board etc. If I pull the "Well of Life" card, am I able to take one of the tokens? Or do I have to wait until next time landing on it? Same for the cards who grant wishes Strength, Craft, Gold, Fate, or Spells; am I able to get it or next landing?

4) Baleful Eye. If I land on a spot that has Three Monsters all with the same encounter number, am I able to use the Baleful Eye to destroy them all at once since the fight as one? Or only one of them. I ask because in the wording, when compared to the "Cloak of Shadows" spell, it sounds more like it's specifying the Encounter; where as the Shadow spell is definetaly specifying a single enemy.

Thank you for your time, hope to hear from someone soon.

Un-official answers, but I believe they're correct:

1) No, you don't may. You MUST teleport to Warlock's Cave, discard the Follower and take a Talisman. Quests must be completed as soon as you're able to.

2) If they're your last and only Follower (like the Hag surely is), you follow the procedure at point 1). If you have many Followers other than the Poltergeist, you cannot choose the Poltergeist, since these Followers cannot be voluntarily discarded. You may get rid of them only following the instructions on the card or by accidentally losing them (e.g. Chasm space).

3) When you draw a card you're always supposed to encounter it, usually. When you draw a "pool" card you set up the counters, put it on the space and encounter it (= take one of the tokens/counters).

4) I don't have the Baleful Eye in fron of me and I can't check the text (perhaps you might write it down here). AFAIK Spells and effects that destroy an Enemy without resorting to combat apply to each enemy card individually. You cast a Fireball on one Enemy and if he's killed you fight the remainder. But I'm not sure about the Baleful Eye case specifically.

Yes the Baleful Eye is used after you make your attack roll. So all 3 monsters would be killed as they fight together in battle.

Ell.

Thanks for the help guys!

I haven't looked at the hag card recently, but even though it *acts* like a follower I don't think that it technically is a follower, and can only be gotten rid of by going to the mystic and are not allowed to sacrifice it for a warlock quest. So in short, no.

IIRC, the Hag card has the Follower keyword. If so, it's a Follower and subject to certain rules for Followers, like killing it in Chasm or having the Reaper eat it.
