Baratheon Power Rush

By Flatline, in 4. AGoT Deck Construction

Hi everybody!

I'm a new player of the AGOT LCG, and I LOVE this game :)

Right now I'm starting with a Baratheon power rush deck... I find myself either winning in the first few turns, or losing in a really bad way. So I modified the deck a little bit trying to have a little more "control" by slowing it down and adding events and attachments. Any suggestions?

I tend to lose badly to Stark (cheaper and stronger creature than the one I have, very high claim, siege of winterfell), and "burning" Targaryen (which I still don't see why it isn't used that much in tournaments, as I tried to play it with some friends and it was almost unstoppable...)

Thanks!! :)

Well I can't give you much advice (none) on deck specifics since I'm not a Bara player, but I tend to find that with rush decks, you don't want to slow down by toolboxing too much. Rush decks depend on speed and winning before control type decks or other rush decks have time to set up. Regardless of whether or not you're determined on playing a slightly longer game but making the deck more resilient, then off the top of my head, you can start by cutting your icon granting attachments, Art of Diplomacy and Court Advisor. I find these are clutter when you should rely more on printed value and proactive actions or surprise by running events. A 1 gold cost character is more useful than them.

I have to agree with Davy's post. I started this game playing Baratheon but switched over to Greyjoy not long after. The best way to win with Baratheon is have plenty of characters that take advantage of renown since you can claim power as a defender which is a pretty cool tactic. Getting going much quicker that your opponents is another great advantage since most players don't feel comfortable playing catch up and tend to make more mistakes when they do. After you get out in front by a decent all you have to do is play smart and the game should be yours.
