I got Gathering Storm and was not to thrilled by it, the group found it very linear past the first chapter and heavy on combat, so we moved onto free form games. Now I'm picking up Witches Song because of the new Witch stuff that looks useful in general, but skipped on Edge of Night. Gathering Storm added a handful of new things that could be used for other scenarios like the new talents but it wasn't much. Does Edge of Night add anything meaningful to the game or is it pretty forgettable if your not likely going to run the campagin any time soon?
Edge of Night, Worth It?
I personally found the Campaign pretty lackluster to be honest, but it contains alot of good ideas, a good run down of Ubersreik, which I have found extremely useful. As for cards and bits to me it boils down to one question....
How important is Skaven magic to you?

Well I picked up the creature guide and vault so I think all the skaven stuff and spells in Edge of Night I already have. Any interesting character creation additions at all?
No the skaven spells are not in the creature vault, the only way to gain the nurgle, tzeentch, dark, skaven, waaghh, and chaos shamen spells is with the expansion they came in, or that is the impression i had anyways. Im afriad i really cant remember what was exactly included as all my player content from all the sets is in one place. I was pretty underwhelmed by the Edge of Night, but i would still rather have the content than not.
Sorry i cant be much more help. Crimsonsun
I have Edge of Night, but have not yet played it. If it's worth it?
I think it is. It contain some lore and info about the region, as well being a political adventure. What intriqued me was this set of rules on how to handle the different noble houses, that and the open game style of the adventure.
As a GM planning a campaign in this region I saw the potential of the Edge of night had, even though it had several weaknesses. But if you're looking for a compact adventure like TGS you might be dissapointed, and it need some work by the gm to use as a stand-alone adventure. But in a context of a larger campaign I find Edge of Night working as platform, where you can embellish on the political intriques and plot hooks.
So if you're looking for just an adventure to use in your own campaign, EoN would not be my first choice.
But if you want something that can add extra depth or level to your campaign EoN might just do that, provided you expand on the material found in adventure.
so compared to TGS, I think EoN have longer longevity. that is just my thoughts, as I indend to squeeze all of EoN potential into my own campaign.
Good gaming and good luck choosing your next wfrp product.
btw: I just ordered Mansions of Madness and are real excited about it. cost me 144$ though.
There's a lot around the main adventure. As our players are always around Ubersreik, that guide is really nice. It succeed real nice after any other adventure in the way we did :
- A Day Late (demo)
- Eye For an Eye (corebook) just after that,
- Winds are changing (winds of change) to track remaining cultists from previous adventure and discovering other threats and altdorf,
- Holdenhaller Contract (V1) localized in Grunburg to get back to southern reikland, the cultist escaped and they find him back in...
- Horror at Hugeldal (sign of faith), working for aschaffenberg's wife (eye for an eye), where they stopped the sorcered of Nurgle when he escaped with the skaven from the next adventure...
- and now Edge of the Night against skaven, discovering the plot from gathering storm with elves stuffs.... which wil fit perfectly with Witch's song.
Well first off the Skaven spells included in EoN are not at all in either the Creature Guide or Vault! The adventure while it has it's issues is actually pretty good if you do a small amount of thinking and work it into your game...

No I don't think so
. it cost close to 80 bucks on amazon. with shipping and extra taxes to Scandinavia it will be arround 144$ + norwegain custom taxes. Yeah I know all the extra almost doubled the costs. I've got the invoice if you want to read it and weep.
I bleed for FFG. good gaming.
EoN is a great resource for the Ubersreik town stuff in particular. I'm currently using all the fluff to allow my players some down time in the city (healing, rest and recovery, purchase equipment) and a chance to pursue various rumors. I even created a slew of random encounter/rumors lists that are used while the PCs attempt to gather info in the city. This is allowing them to basically choose which adventure module I'll run next (Horror of Hugeldal, Gathering Storm, Edge of Night). At the moment things appear to be leaning toward me running The Gathering Storm, since most of the rumors the players have picked up on tend to point in that direction (constant storm fronts sweeping across the Southern Reik from the area, hints of a long lost Elf Temple in the area etc.). When and if the PCs return to Ubersriek, I'll probably pick back up with EoN, as it would be a nice break from all the fightin' and killin' in Gathering Storm.
