Heh well at least you brought some humor to this. Poor guy just wanted to get some insight on stalker rounds and gets a flame war on what is and isnt sci-fi. Typical in the DW forums I find.

I have to say this is the first time I've seen people write in all caps in quite a while happy.gif

@AK:

...They told him don't you ever come around here! Don't wanna see your face, you better disappear! The fire's in their eyes and their word are really clear, so beat it!

That's what you get for shooting off ill-informed insults...

Well if you would have quoted the entire paragraph instead of taking a sentence out of context, you would have gotten the last one where I state"It is all Sci-Fi so who knows".

I was specifically mentioning Red Mercury because it's a hoax.

Although 40k is most certainly NOT sci-fi. Just because it's futuristic, it doesn't mean that it's sci-fi. 40k uses science as a mere plot device in the same way as Star Wars.

I guess you forgotten about this post? Instead of giving the author of this thread your own anwser, you just wanted to attack mine. If you are a writter come up with your own material and present it, or are you just a cynic?

You better run, you better do what you can, don't wanna see no blood don't be a macho man! You wanna be tough, better do what you can, so beat it! But you wanna be bad!

That's pretty bad-a**.

Heh, given that I had run-ins with both Nimon and Siranui in the past, I figured I would rather play the role of onlooker, but no man you had to go and interrupt their dance off with your red leather jacket and fancy white socks and all. corazon_roto.gif

So who's gonna be the latino in the white leather jacket? And in case you guys wonder - I'm gonna be the superfly guy with baseball cap and glasses who does these weird robot dance moves.

Oh wait, eldars have unnatural agility. S**t.

Alex

PS New custom chapter concept - "Moonwalkers". Watch the step, dude.

Bring the Funk to the 40k universe! I will be Doolamite.

I'm sure that there's basis for a pretty good chapter background in there. Plenty of pretty bad-a tribal cultures view capable dancing amongst males as an important sign of fitness and manliness.

Chapter Master Michael approves of this assessment. cool.gif

However, any turning up will get promptly chased off by a bunch of denim and leather wearing guardsman gran_risa.gif

Back to the original thread i justified the tearing as comming from the vacume caused by the bullets propelant doing all kinds of nasty as the round penetrates as for blast again hard pressed to say why as in my experiance (working as a weapons tech in the military) anything that goes bang i.e has a blast will make some kind of noise which defeats the object of having a silenced round so we ditched the blast but as its designed to be used as a sniper round we are toying with giving it toxic or increasing its armour pen by two espcially if combined with the stalker patern bolter.

True, the round would cause a lot of cavitation. Something I have seen many times a combat medic. And if you think about the effects of cavitation and something with an exo-skeleton(like a tyranid), you could imagine the amount of internals that would be devastated.

I don't think sound is an issue, as the explosive damage trait comes from the bolt round exploding inside of your body. At that point people know you've been shot. It's just the description doesn't match well. I've not used it yet in my game though, but I'm of the mind to ditch the explosive property to better match the description.

The stalker with stalker rounds does 2d10+3 pen 5, chances are you're doing a good amount of damage to your enemey as is and it's impossible to detect the shot. I think a variant stalker with toxic or the like would be a pretty cool concept (and one that interestes me more than some of the other sniper proposals) I'd just be careful to cost it correctly - though I'm not sure what would feel right myself (+1d10 straight to wounds is pretty hardcore though)

Most things you would want to kill with toxic are REALLY hard kill that way, Tyranids are almost immune to the Toxic trait, Astartes have all those anti-poison tricks as well, which really only leaves the Tau as enemies poison will work on.

The real danger to others will be if the players use better toxins like Genophage or Ars Imperialis Mortua.

Ya I have noticed the toxic quality gets negated more often then not when facing something strong enough that you would actually want toxic.
