I'm going Toe to Toe with The Emperor Protects...

By HappyDaze, in Deathwatch Gamemasters

Adversaries in Deathwatch are assigned to a Tier. We have Troops, Elites, and Masters. Toe to Toe is a Deed from RoB that gives bonuses when in melee with a Master-level enemy. Sounds good so far, but then I get to The Emperor Protects...

The adversaries are not marked by Tier. Sometimes the lines between Troops and Elites or Elites and Masters get a bit blurry, so what are the proper Tiers for the adversaries in The Emperor Protects?

Broodlords are master, genestealer elite.

Alex

I'd say the usual parts apply. Nameds are masters as long as their hp is over 35, Id' say, or they're incrediably powered.

Black Engine I would say is another, Toxic Dweller. Skittari are elites. Mooks are about 15 hp and lower.

Masters are 'Big Bad Eng Guys' and similar named adversaries.

Basically: Climactic conflicts.

Obliterators are prolly elite but i would rule master

*spoilers ahead* for The Emperor Protects

i'd say from the first adventure only the t-rex and broodlord.. for the second, definitely the alpha legion commander (can't recall his name at the moment) and the tomb spider/guardian. for the last one, i'd say dhazak for sure as an end cap to the adventure. basically, i'd say no more than 1-2 per adventure shoud count as master-level.

^ Master-level should be like, the final boss of a level, the mastermind behind an evil plot. I agree with the above post.
