If an attachment card is "Attach to X you control"... is this requirement to only play the card or does the attachment discard if you loose X (or if another player gets control of the card)?
Attachment question
From the FAQ:
(3.20) Attachment Restrictions
Any attachment that has a restriction (such as
"Lord or Lady only" or "attach to an opponent's
character") is immediately discarded
from play at any time that restriction is not
met, regardless of immunity. Such restrictions
are constant effects, and the attachment should
be immediately discarded any time a restriction
is not met including during setup.
So even if it says "attach to a character you control," it is considered a continuous attachment requirement. If the person who controls the attachment does not also control the character (in this situation), the attachment is discarded.
Although if you are thinking of a specific card, it might be a good idea to identify the card just in case there is something tricky about the overall situation.
Quick attachment question (and I know it's somewhere in the FAQ/Rules, but I just can't find it). I know it says that most attachments are on characters; does that mean that I can't attach it to my house card/a location unless it specifically states that I can? For instance, I know that I can only attach Formal Petition to my house card. But could I attach Bones of a Child to it as well, to protect it from being discarded if a character I would attach it to was killed?

Ah, just found it (I stopped reading that section after seeing there was an example). Of course I skip over the one line that deals with my question...Thanks KTom.
Thanks for doing my reading for me ktom!
