Where Is the Midnight Rpg?

By Grismantel, in Support

Hello,

Well, i think the title of the topic is clear: where is the Midnight RPG on the FFG website? It had mysteriously and completely vanished from the catalog, the forums etc...O_o

I seriously hope my all-time prefered rpg is not victim of a stealthed cancellation. It would be a real shame for such a great piece of art and creativity and not the right way to give it the respect it deserves. Coming after a very long time without any informations on the future of Midnight, with longtime and faithfull players not even knowing what is going on.

I just hope the Midnight RPG will continue to live in a way or another, i could not even imagine it wasted, while it is the support of the coolest and most epic world of fantasy i ever see for a rpg.

Thanks,

I too hope that Midnight is not gone for good. It's one of three favourite settings of mine.

Yea, it's strange the entire IP is missing from the site. Either there's a super cool super secret announcement coming or someone just hit the wrong button when they built the webpage?

I was looking for somewhere to post a thread like this. I haven't actually played Midnight, but the background and theme has always interested me and I was thinking of getting it. What I wanted to ask on the (absent) Midnight forum,is what else I would need in order to run and play sessions of Midnight? Is it a stand alone system like Grimm, or would I need 2 rulebooks to play?

Or it could because it's 3.5 they are not going to support or carry it anymore once supplies run out. I really would Like to see someone from FFG actually answer this question.

Good point. i forgot all about 4e 'cause I refuse to pick it up. *crosses fingers*

4e D&D would probably make a great rules expansion to the Descent boardgame. That's about it, though - as a standalone rpg, it's just.... just awful...

Anyway, this isn't about D&D. This is about Midnight. I, too, want to know what happened. If they've chosen to cancel the line, then just tell us! Is that really so hard? And maybe leave us a forum to post in? That would be appreciated...

I think we can all see now that Midnight is going the way of the DODO. Check the Christmas specials and find great prices on Midnight....Along with other mainstays like Diskwars......

Oh well, I will be sad to see it go but I will buy one of everything thats left, at $5.00-$10.00 a piece I can buy them all for the cost of 2 harcovers.

Everything Midnight was also reduced for last year's Christmas sale.

From the very few releases of the past 2 years, I'd say it's clear we shouldn't expect much more Midnight in the future. Although we never know, they do have that upcoming movie (whatever happened to that?). Maybe they're waiting to upgrade to 4th ed. and release a new edition simultaneously with the movie.

Maybe it's better for Midnight to get canceled than to go 4th Ed.

The movie has been shown in some theaters according to the old website. Then they were trying to sell it as a TV series. The info was all abit jumbled. Regardless Midnight is going away methinks. I hope not it is a GREAT setting really a unique idea, and those are rare.

I would love an answer to the question posed as well. I was quite dissapointed that Midnight was not listed on the RPG's section of the favorite games, because it truly is one of my all time favorites. I have run several campaigns and own every single book and piece of information published for it. Please FFG give us a reply, whether it be good or bad news!

Up until playing and running Midnight 2nd edition Planescape had been my all time favorite setting, but Midnight crept into my soul like the cold fingers of the dark god himself. I truly hope this amazing setting, its art, and the stellar writing are not lost and forgotten.

Hey,

New to these forums. Just found them, actually.

I really miss the Midnight RPG setting, and I have been e-mailing FFG a couple of times (I hope they're not too irritated by me asking:) ) The answers I've received today was that Midnight will not be abandoned. More news will come in the "not-so-distant-future".

Another answer I got in september was this:

"I asked our marketing people about the Midnight game, in regards to your email and this was his answer -

We want to make sure that the Midnight setting gets the time it deserves. Obviously, 4th Edition threw a wrench in our plans for our putting out more d20 books, and we are not going to do anything until we have the time and resources required to make the next move."

So I guess we will see more Midnight in 2009, or at least news of it. And it will not be d20, which I think is good.

Regards,

Eirik

Thanks for the info Mrpossum, but it sure would be nice if someone from FFG could, you know, tell the community what's going on.

Agreed Desslok, but I am heartened by what Possum said at least.
