Dream cards

Dream cards?

• Azathoth
Hideous Name
[Neutral Support]
Cost: 4/Skill: 5
Ancient One.

If Azathoth is in play at any player's end of turn, remove it from the game.
Action:
Sacrifice a domain to shuffle an Ancient One character into its owner's deck.

Post any ideas you've got! This is just for fun, to indulge the creator's instinct residing in all of us.

The only dream cards I really have would be more cards based upon characters, locations and events from HPL and chums stories. I hope FFG do that soon.

Seconded.

Expand Mountains of madness to make the Polar subtype worth a ****. Etc. etc.

Yes make new cards for the Polar. For fun, I have designed some cards, when I was dreaming for a real box expansion for the Mountains :

* Professor Atwood, Meteorologist
Character
cost 3 / skill 3, [arcane][investigation]
Scientist. Faculty.
Response: After you play Professor Atwood from your hand, search your deck for a Polar event card, reveal it, and add it to your hand.

Sledge
Support
Cost 2
Vehicle.
While you control at least one card titled Alaskan Sledge Dog, the Sledge gains : " Action: exhaust Sledge to choose a [miskatonic] character. He gains Fast and Willpower until the end of the phase."

Professor Atwood would be a Miskatonic character, right?

* H.P.L., Him, who bring it all
Character
cost 3 / skill 3, [arcane]
Lunatic.Artist.

only 1 copy of H.P.L. can be in your deck.
Action: pay 2 and drive H.P.L. insane to search your deck for the Ancient-One character and put it into play. At the end of the turn - sacrifice that Ancient-One .

Yes miska.

Now that's interesting. I like the way his imagination is represented by the end-of-turn removal of the Ancient One. It also provokes the puzzling question of whether H.P. Lovecraft exists in his own universe - or perhaps the card represents him as he was in our universe, but with the arcane ability to peer into terrifying other universes, such as the one(s) in which this game takes place.

The Horror in Clay
Bas-relief
Cost: 2
[Cthulhu Support]
Artifact.
Response: After your insane character is restored, destroy a resource attached to any player's domain.
"My somewhat extravagant imagination yielded simultaneous pictures of an octopus, a dragon, and a human caricature.... A pulpy, tentacled head surmounted a grotesque and scaly body with rudimentary wings. "

* Wilbur Whateley
Mysterious Albino
Yog-Sothoth
cost 4 / skill 4, [terror][combat][combat][arcane]
Creature. Sorceror.
While Wilbur Whateley is in play, the cost for opponents to play Ancient One characters is increased by 1.
Action: Sacrifice Wilbur Whateley to lower the cost to play The Dunwich Horror by 3.

* The Dunwich Horror
Spawn of Evil
Yog-Sothoth
cost 6, skill 6 [terror][terror][combat][combat][combat]
Ancient One.
Villianous. Toughness +4.
Characters controlled by opponents may not commit to the same story as The Dunwich Horror alone.
Action: Pay 3 to destroy target support card.

Rats in the Wall
Hastur
cost 2
Event. Madness.
Action: Sacrifice a character you control to target another character. That character gains the icons of the sacrificed character until the end of phase. At the end of the phase, drive the target character insane.

Botched Transcription
Cost: 1
[Yog-Sothoth Support]
Attachment.
Attach to a Tome . While attached, treat the Tome as though its text box were blank.
The controller of the card to which Botched Transcription is attached gains the following ability:
" Action: Your character gains Willpower until the end of the phase."
"This is impossible! I made certain the copy was identical to the original!"

Heinrich Himmler
Occult Enthusiast
[The Order of the Silver Twilight character]
Cost: 2 / Skill: 2
Icons: Arcane x1
Cultist. Government.
Reaction: When an action's cost or effect requires you to sacrifice a character, pay 1 and exhaust Himmler to drive that character insane instead.
"The best political weapon is the weapon of terror. Cruelty commands respect. Men may hate us. But, we do not ask for their love; only for their fear."

•Al Capone
Chicago Outfit
[The Syndicate character]
Cost: 4 / Skill: 4
Icons: Combat x2
Criminal.
Action: Pay 1 to move another character committed to the same story as Al Capone to another story. If that character is Government , he gets -2 Skill.

So...an example maybe? :3

Ok. Suggestions based on a couple stories:

Herbert West - Reanimator (misk or yog character), Dr West's Creation (zombie type character), revivivcation serum (support item), grave robbery (event).

The Shunned House (support location), The Thing in the Basement (monster character), digging for the truth (event).

The Rats in the Walls (event), Wrexham Priory (support location), subterranean catacombs (support location), Sir William Brinton - Archaeologist (misk character), Delapore Legacy (event).

Ythogtha - the Great Frog (AO character), Zoth-Ommog - Child of Cthulhu (AO character), The Legacy of Xoth (support), Statue of Zoth-Ommog (support artifact), Sanbourne Institute of Pacific Antiquities (misk support location), The Winfield Heritance (event or support).

The Hound (event or maybe character), St. John - grave robber (character), Howling of the Hound (event), Cursed Amulet (support item)

Glaaki (AO character). The Seven Valley (support location), Goatswood - Where the Stone Fell (support location), Cultist of the Moon Lens (character),

I'd have to really sit down and remember exact bits for events and the like, but heres examples - f our fro HPL himself, one from Lin Carter and one from Ramsey Campbel.

Stories like The rats in the walls, The Shunned House, The Unnamable and Dreams in the Witch House are examples that could go into a cycle based upon haunted houses in the mythos. Another set could be based upon weird science (Herbert West, Whisperer in Darkness and Cool Air for instance). This is what I would like to see as the game goes forward.

Great suggestions from The Big Show there! There are many untapped stories (see what I did there?) in this game. The current cycles have been varied, with one being Dreamlands in general, another deep into the Cthulhu cults. I think we'll get cycles for every major entity eventually, so here's hoping a Yog cycle brings a lot of discard play, with characters like West, Ammi Pierce and other eccentric people :)

I'd like a cycle of real-world locations where some major and minor mythos event occurred. There are enough places and events mentioned in passing to make 120 cards right there, I think. Actual Event and Support cards, that is. But I'm sure the FFG writers have lots of unused material for many packs. They plan a year ahead, right?
