Has anyone heard or seen anything about when the first Chapter pack in this cycle will be released?
Secrets of Oldtown release?
nothing official, but it should be in about 2 weeks.
Well DB was released around Jan 20th so if they keep to the monthly schedule we'd expect to see it around the later part of next week or early the week after.
I am informed by a US vendor that the first CP of the new cycle will NOT be made available by FFG until April 27th!
4 other sources are telling me April 17 or March 31st by the earliest.
Does anyone else have similar experiences or otherwise have insider knowledge regarding the above claim?
If true...3 months is a long time to wait for a product with a monthly release schedule.
IIRC, FFG sometimes takes a month off between chapter pack cycles... not sure though...
Which continues to boggle my mind since one of the biggest points that was made when the company was attempting to "sell" the LCG distribution model to the community was that they could maintain the set, monthly release schedule without the sporadic interruptions that plagued the CCG.
I just looked at Potomac and they have gates of the citidel slated for Feb and Forging the Chain slated for April,so if Gates ended up coming in the last week of Feb then if they slipped by a week for Forging it wouldn't arrive til april.
Also it is possible that the Targ box will be coming out sometime in that timeframe I suppose so perhaps one of the packs is getting delayed for that.
If the Targ box is coming so that we do still have a release every month then I'm ok with it.
They haven't even announced a targ box.
Given the way things are... they might put out a lanni box first... or another stark box.

By this logic, they might put out an Arryn box first...
Tyrell!
.
No, Frey box is next. Old Walder with his 50 kid and grandkids, or however many there are, including like 6 different Walders. 3 copies each, of course.

Itll be called "Lords of the Pants"

True, but the french site's Targ box reveal makes me lean toward Targ. I do find if funny that they haven't announced it yet but if they announced today it wouldn't be unheard of to see it in that timeframe.

Right, they can title the cards "Walder Frey" and "The Other Walder Frey" and "Yet Another Walder Frey" etc so they can all be played at once.

Giving out different keywords would help too. Some could be Lords, others Bastards. There could be some great Army cards in the box as well, entirely from Walder's offspring.

There could be an attatchment like Blood of the Viper that makes target character a Frey! Did anyone else think that Blood was a weird attatchment? In the sense that you could make Eddard Stark a bastard daughter of Oberyn Martell with it? =P
Well, with the right cards you can make Tommen Baratheon a
Direwolf
, Bran Stark an
Army
or Maester Aemon a
Warship
. You can even turn The Land Beyond the Wall into a
Raven
, if you're so inclined, so no, I don't think that's especially odd.

I need examples of the above. It sounds fun.

Well, you probably won't see these exact examples in the wild, because they don't actually make any sense gameplay-wise, but you can use Old Nan and Rhaegar's Harp to give traits to characters. Then there's Lion's Gate which can be used to give traits to any non-house card with power on it, which is usually characters, but can be Kingdom locations, too, if AToR Mance is in play. The Combo where you use Nan or LG to turn an opponent's char into a Raven , then use Carrion Bird to make them fly away is actually quite well known and universally loved/hated (depending on if you're on the receiving end of it or not).

I would buy the crap out of that.
Especially because it would contain meta-shattering cards such as; Walder Frey, Son of Walder, Black Walder, Little Walder, Walda, Host of Walders, Mob of left over Walders, Son of Son of Walder, Big Walder, and Actually My Name is Charles, I Guess I'm the Lucky One.
FFG, if you're reading this, give us a Frey deluxe expansion. Stat*
*Ok fine, maybe just a Chapter Pack...
... but not before the Tyrells and the Arryns, those guys are hardcore.

BWAHAHAHAHAH! Perfect.
Then we could have an Army character with the Bastard trait.

We already can with Son of a KIng. Albeit a few.
