What's the best way to knock someone prone in combat?

By henrysamwise, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

While I own several WHFRP 3e supplements, I have only GMed it once. In glancing through action cards, I don't really see many ways to achieve effects such as trying to knock your opponent prone, trying to knock a weapon out of your opponent's hands, and other "tactical" moves. Now I realize the game isn't meant to be tactical in the sense of movement, attacks of opportunity and other D&Disms, but what would you recommend as a way to handle attempts to, for example, hit an opponent in the head and knock him back into the pit of acid just behind him? Is that a Stunt?

Perform a Stunt!

**** FFG - your forums don't let me just write that so I have to fill this space with unneccessary stuff...blah blah blah...

Shield slam to knock someone prone, and acrobatic strike I believe to disarm someone or even steal their weapon if you have a hand free. Hmm it may be nimble strike, can't remember.

Both gsoul and Gallows have given good options. There are a couple specific action cards that have results that disarm/knock prone. Otherwise, a PC can use the "perform a stunt" to get a specific result at a cost of damage.

Duelist Strike also allows you to move an opponent around.

But yes 'Perform a Stunt' would be my key option with a number of the other aforementioned cards (things like "Beat Back" even though the move/prone is not exactly mentioned).

Alternately you can say that they can achieve such an effect for X boons. Or on a comet. (Or the enemy could fall back over on a chaos star)

The system is more than flexible enough to support all of the above.
