For Profit and Plunder - Who's reading and any comments?

By MARVIN THE ARVN, in Rogue Trader

Hi all,

Im posting this topic to get an idea as to how many people are reading my groups adventures through the expanse and to give people a place to post comments or questions about the campaign/maptool etc.

Thanks!!

I'm reading it. Beyond which I have found it both entertaining and inspiring.

I recently started reading it and got caught up today (I like to lurk) and I find it quite well written and intriguing. I would find it interesting to see some of the early events re-shown through the eyes of another perceiving character, however. I'm sure the Warmaster or Void Master would have some interesting input from their own viewpoints.

Reading it too. And i agree with X-Kalibur.

Don't worry mate =) We're reading. I've taken a break from it, since I don't like to get too many ideas from outside. Need to come up with some original material for myself as well =)

Definitely reading. :)

It's very good, thank you for the write-ups, that is a lot of work.

Can't post I like at every one o your post, everyone is exited until they realised it was not you who posted... Like now was kind of wishing something, thinking of it...

LESS QUESTIONING US AND MORE WRITING FOR US!

Cheers!

:P

Reading it and loving it :o)

Planning to borrow some idea's if i can.

Whoever is writing up the story should consider writing as a job, a much better better story than the Black Library Rogue Trader Books i read before.

Congrats

Interesting idea. I've held off from writing anything because I didn't want to distract from the bang-up job Lord Spatula is doing. It might be fun to revisit some of the early stuff from Hartek's viewpoint. Plus there's at least one scene that neither the Enginseer nor Lord S know about that needs writing up.

But be warned - anything from Hartek's viewpoint is likely to be terse, idiomatic and littered with obscenities. Just like him.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, as we have at least half a dozen people still interested I will keep posting the sessions.

Walker0001 - Your more than welcome to use any of the ideas in the adventures and hopefully you can improve apon them, let me know how it goes. I also agree that Lord Spatula has done an excellent job with the write ups.

X-Kalibur - Having the other players write up the odd chapter or incident from their view point would be interesting.

At the moment we have an average of 3-4 players a sessions.

Squat Rogue Trader.

Enginseer.

Navigator.

Ex-Imperial Naval Officer (Voidsman).

I'm reading, mate. The quality of the writing is quite good, better than the Black Library at any rate. And, it sounds like the players are having fun, which is the important bit.

That said, I do have one comment... The GM needs to fire the NPC's he's got flying his ships and replace them with some good and 'ard villains. A cakewalk's no fun, and I just cannot believe that a frigate damaged and drove off The Promise of Sedition, especially since it had more escorts than they did. The PC's ship should punch harder than its weight class, but that's a bit much.

Cheers,

- V.

Reading it, loving it, no complaints, keep up the good work.

Stumbled upon it while lurking here when deciding which WH40k RPG to play, liked it, bookmarked it.

Nuff said.

Zakalwe and klaymen_sk its good to have you onboard.

Vandegraffe - Yeah, completely agree about the fun part and as the gm its been a blast to run. Their ship is an absolute killer but came at the expense of no real non-combat capability so their profit factor isnt increasing as quick as it could be and it was worse than that as I had to run the The Promise of Sedition away so they didnt destroy it sad.gif The poor raiders had to force the pc's ship into chasing them and got destroyed in short order but dont worry the The Promise of Sedition now knows what the pc's are capable of and will be ready demonio.gif

I have found this an excellent read. Throughly enjoying it thus far.

Thanks

I did forget to mention that the pc's did work very well as a team when fighting the The Promise of Sedition and had a few good rolls when it counted so I didnt want to fudge the result. Their ship is bit of a class cannon as in the first ship encounter two wolfpack raiders did some serious damage to them due to some lucky/unlcuky rolls.

Not suprisingly I have noticed that the more pc's you have on ship the more powerful it is in combat due to the actions it can take.

I've been reading it quite a bit actually. I just picked up RT at Gen Con last yearI wasn't sure if I'd ever run it for my group. Game logs like yours are making me want to run a game even more than before. I have been putting together word documents that have stuff in them that I want to remember when I start to run the game (it could be a yearmore). It contains things like posts about the scale of RT, campaign ideas, etc. Your game log has it's own file and it's getting fairly long- its currently at 202 pages! This is using arial font at a size of 12 so there is alot to read!

So keep them coming, people are reading them!

One comment about the Promise of Sedition... per ITS, it has two plasma broadsides on each side. Your write up made me think it was only firing one broadside each turn; should be two.

I agree with all the rest. My PC's (party of 5) are now 4th level, except for the Rogue Trader who just hit level 5. Their ship hits unbelievably hard. They've a Firestorm with Prow sunsears, Dorsal sunsears, Veteran of the Angevin Crusade, and a couple other goodies. The arch-militant was needing 104 or less to hit. That was BEFORE they closed to short range. They were lighting up a target with eight laser hits a turn, which will shred a raider in a single volley. Their last battle, they wasted a pair of Iconoclasts and an Infidel, but ended up with single digit Hull Integrity because...

...hold that thought. You know, Marvin, you've inspired me. I'm going to post my campaign diary to this forum. (New thread, I won't hijack.) After all, it's hardly fair for me to criticize your write-ups and not give you the opportunity to reply in kind, now is it?

Cheers,

- V.

[edited for typos & grammar]

Vandegraffe - This is going to sound even worse but im fairly sure I was firing two broadsides to each side but it didnt really make a difference as I couldnt get a ship in each arc anyway as the pc/npc ships split. I blame the whole debarcle on the Captain in charge!! Ops that seems to be me!!

That sounds like a fairly butch crewship, im lucky that no-one in the current party has an outrageous BSthey are all mature players who havent felt the need to rub their awesome ship in other peoples faces. Hell, they gave some of their ill-gotten gains to Fell so he wouldnt take it from them when they were at approx 50% hull damage (I also think they feared the GM's naval tactical ability).

No problem, criticism is what keeps me sharpstops me from getting too sloppy happy.gif

If you post your sessions I could borrow/steal some of your ideas angel.gif
