Hey guys. I'm wanting to try out the chapter building stuff, and figured I'd start with Raven Guard. You guys mind helping? We'll make it a group project...
Let's Build Raven Guard
then you should probably start the thread with ideas of your own. frankly, as written, it looks like a fishing expedition to get the raven guard-ish create your own chapter rules without actually buying the book.
in many countries RoB will be in april or even later.
btw there is very good House Rule set for Raven Guard, balanced and accurate.

This forum has terrible search capabilities. Link?
Seems like a pretty easy one to do tbh... I'm pulling this out of my ass, here because my books aren't with me.
Stats: +5 Agi, +5 Per (Don't see anything else that works... those are by far the two most important stats for stealth/infiltration specialist)
It's a codex chapter, so no specialities disallowed.
Solo Mode: While in solo mode, ignores the stealth penalty caused by power armor (but not Terminator armor). At rank 4, also allows Stealth Re-Roll.
Chapter trapping:
- One that gives +3 Stealth
- One that gives +1 Move when Charging (to represent Shrike's fleet rule)
- One that gives +3 to awareness rolls to prevent being surprised.
Advances... if you have Rites of Battle, I'm pretty sure there is a 'stealth' based chapter advance, but do something along those line:
Silent Move, +10, +20
Concealement, +10, +20
Hard Target (to represent their mad charge skills)
Assassin Strike
Combat Sense
Hatred (Ork)
Add 1 or 2 more that are 'sneaky' or 'agility' based.
There you go... all you're missing are psychic power and Offensive/Defensive Squad Tactic.
Thanks to everyone for the responses. And, as a response to the fishing for free information, you couldn't be more wrong. I pre-ordered the book the day my local shop could, and I've had it since last thursday. But hey, jumping to conclusions and accusing people is always fun, right?
I'd consider the following selections if using RoB to model the Raven Guard:
Table 1-10: Go with result 61-70.
Table 1-19: Go with result 61-85.
Table 1-20: None of the unique ones really seem fitting, so perhaps from another Chapter.
Table 1-21: Go with result 61-85.
Table 1-30: Go with result 61-70.

just about as much fun as making unsubstantiated claims (like preordering the book) as you could also claim to be the crown prince of nigeria...
either way, regardless of your intentions, your post sounds like a request for posting the rules. if it's not, i apologize. either way... next time, simply put your own ideas in a thread you're starting before asking others for theirs.

Perhaps someone wants to actually find out others ideas to see if his are any good? Also, reading some of his(presumably) other posts he did order the book. Nigeria, by the way is a proper noun.
Also, doesn't the Raven Guard suffer from albinism? Perhaps a -5 to fellowship for an unsettling appearance?
Raven Guard are missing some things that most marines have. They don't have a Betcher's Gland or Mucranoid organ. Also that alibinism mutation is caused by a faulty Melanchromic organ. One migth consider giving them a bonus talent of some sort to make up for it.
I think that the RG template published on DR is quite a good start. A few tweaks to bring it in line with RoB, and the job's a good 'un.
I'd personally go for Int, Agi for stat bonuses: Sneaky and savvy.

And indeed; lacks a monarchy....
I personally (as a Raven Guard character player) feel the Dark Reign one is actually fine. It seems to do what it should do (make a chaper of sneaking specialists), and nothing about it strikes me as unbalanced (unlike the Salamander one). The main problem is the Chapter attack pattern, which provides no benefit unless you have multiple Raven Guard or are a Tactical Marine with the right stuff. All Chapter squad abilities are obviously limited by not being able to share them with others, but mechanically the Chaper Attack Pattern does nothing for an individual Raven Guard (it gives bonuses based on how many Marines involved in the pattern attack the same target AFTER the first one... so if one guy is using the ability on his own it does nothing).
However our GM wants to redo all the varient ones using Rights of Battle. I will need to start looking at how this thing works (just got Rights of Battle myself).
Having a tough time finding anything that isn't for Dark Heresy on the DR site. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Could you possibly be any more of a forum Nazi? Maybe? Just a little? Do it for the commisar!
It's on Dark Reign. I think it's now together with the Iron Hand and Salamander stuff under 'codex astartes vol. 1' or similar.
Also, if you still want to create one, I believe that they destabilized their geneseed during the Horus Heresy, and I suggest adding one random implant failure beyond those mentioned before.
On the lexicanium site, it mentions that some of them turned into hideous creatures. This might be a good basis for a Primarch's curse. It also said that due to low numbers they actually went into battle with the creatures. Might be a basis for Forbidden Lore:Mutants in their chapter advance. After reading about them they seem like a fun chapter I am surprised they did not add them in Rites of Battle, I had hoped they would finish the main 9 at least, but I guess it just means you get practice using the new chapter creation rules.
This is purely using the tables that are in the book, rather than any creation skill advance tables or anything:
+5 Agility, +5 Intelligence
Solo Mode: Re-Roll Silent Move and Concealment Tests. Rank 4: Add +10 to using those skills. Rank 8. Gain a bonus degree of success using them
Squad Modes: Tactical Finesse and Swift Advance
Use the Death From Afar advance table, but replacing Hatred (Eldar) with (Orks). This was just the best fit of a poor bunch (and is a place they should have given more guidance to making your own tables, though basically it is two skills and 4 Talents)), though it did give me an exotic weapon training to take a big shoota (which fits my background of having served with Shrike on his guerilla campaign against orks). If I was making my own table I would replace Awareness with Silent Move (unsure about the cost though). I would also remove Bolter Drill and Exotic Weapon Training and replace them with different Talents... not sure which one. Maybe Assassin's Strike for one of them (though this may require the addition of Acrobatics to the skill list. The Chapters in the main rulebook do seem to get bigger selections so that may be justified). Maybe Combat Sense (but it is a bit dull... and frankly their Agility is likely to be higher than their Perception).
No Speciality restrictions (Assault Marine is slightly preferred though).
They are missing (or have non-functional) Betcher's Gland and Mucranoid and a malfunctioning Melanchromic Organ (gives them white skin and black eyes. So far no in game effect account for in that... not sure it is really any more scary than a 7 foot tall killing machine is in the first place).
They come from an industrialised world. Doctrine wise they favour stealth tactics over other Chapters. As far as I can remember mobility is also important to them (but not the extreme degree that the White Scars take it. It's more about not getting bogged down than zipping around on bikes all the time).
